Time For a Revival? In the early 90s an intrepid collection of employees at AAA Auto Club Enterprises decided to make the Christmas holiday season better for some needy families in the Costa Mesa area. And they were determined to have some fun doing it. And so #TheThrow charity dart tournament was born. The business plan was simple: –promote The Throw event; –enroll paid entrants; –solicit paid sponsors; –hire a band; –book a venue; –print T-shirts (w/sponsor names); –provide prizes for the winners; –adopt families through a local charity; –have fun; –rinse and repeat annually. Over The Throw’s four year run, the founders and their fun-loving dart throwing horde adopted 15 families—including many smaller children—and provided everything necessary for a Happier-than-expected #Christmas celebration. Even Christmas trees were donated to the effort by one generous participant. The event logo used the general likeness of one of the supporters as the inspiration for “The Throw Guy”—so, a completely homegrown effort start to finish (and in no way affiliated with or sponsored by #ACE). Here’s hoping that one of the remaining legacy supporters will resurrect The Throw during future holiday seasons. In so doing you would build fond memories for many at a time when building them matters a great deal. And you would have a lot of #fun doing good.

So, a record-breaking #HongKongArbitrationWeek is approaching with various events jam-packed for the week (21-25 October 2024). If you are anything like me, you are already looking at all the events and developing a huge headache because let's be real, professional networking with hundreds of people and digesting all of the invaluable information you will be sure to receive at the millions of events (fine, I'm exaggerating, but there sure as heck are a lot of things squeezed into a span of a few days) is quite honestly more work and takes more out of you than actual work itself. Or, I am just old - likely the latter. But it needs to be done and what better time to do it than at one of the leading (and if I recall correctly, one of the first, if not the first) arbitration weeks worldwide. However, this post is not a plug (or gripe) for HKAW, which needs no further promotions since it has broken all previous registration records (kudos to the HKIAC team who have been working non-stop behind the scenes). Rather, this is a post for another record-breaking and over-subscribed event during the week, Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball! The Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball is a staple event started by the one and only Gavin Denton more than a decade ago and now organized by the Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball Committee, with the tremendous support of our amazing Coordinator, Ms. Maricel Somerville. Thanks to the dedication and support of the #HongKong legal community as well as the #InternationalArbitration Community in general, we are FULLY SOLD OUT of tables AND individual seats (though if you sweet talk Maricel, she can probably figure out how to squeeze one or two more of you in....after killing me for posting this). For those of you who are part of the 550 or so people attending this special evening and joining us onboard the Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball Orient Express, please do check out the website (www.hkacb.net) for details, not only for the evening but also the amazing raffle and auction prizes available. As always, proceeds from the evening will go to very deserving #HongKong based non-profits. This year's recipients are: Equal Justice 平義社 and Splash Foundation. So in summary - come thirsty, hungry, ready to mingle, and most importantly, be in your most generous mood! If you cannot attend but wish to still donate to these wonderful charities, there is a donation option on the website where you can make direct donations. Thomas Walsh, Christopher Boog, Elizabeth Chan (陳曉彤), John Choong, Thomas Fearis, Jocelyn Heng, Neil Kaplan, Wesley Pang, Tom Christopher Pröstler, Robert Rhoda, Cameron Sim, Emily Tillett, Matthew Townsend, Mei Yong.
We are thrilled to publish the list of prizes we have for the raffle portion of the evening! Super and Regular Raffle Tickets will be sold throughout the evening while our guests enjoy their trip on the Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball's Orient Express. Cash AND Credit Cards will be accepted. All proceeds will be donated to Equal Justice 平義社 and Splash Foundation A heartfelt thank you to all our prize sponsors for their generosity! Your support makes a difference. Julian Cohen, Hong Kong Sports Clinic, PURE Group, Wilson Tang, Freshfields, Tanner De Witt, Fencing Master, Burford Capital, H-KORE, HULA, Amanda Leigh Style, Marianne Esquivel Obena, Inspire Yoga HK, Wesley Pang, Thomas Walsh, Herbert Smith Freehills, Kirkland & Ellis

#APTipTuesday - Everyone knows the benefits of engaging event photos in sharing the success of an event and promoting next year’s event, but did you know event photos have another key purpose? During your event set up, be proactive in taking photos and video from cell phones to document how all aspects of the event are staged. In our work with clients we frequently refer back to past event photos to remind everyone of elements such as how the registration table was set up, display of the silent auction items, décor on the ballroom tables, the design of the stage, and what the bid paddles looked like. #annplans #tiptuesday #eventphotos #nonprofit #nonprofiteventplanning

This is the best event for team-building. Whether you are a small or large business, organization, a group of ladies who do book club, church groups, public safety, or high school teams, you name it, this event will bring you closer together AND raises money for a GREAT cause. So what are you talking about Craig!?!? It's the 2024 #PlanePullChallenge to benefit Special Olympics Indiana, happening on SATURDAY August 10th. So what is the Plane Pull Challenge? I am glad you asked. 😉 Are you strong enough to take on an 82-ton Boeing 757 jetliner in a massive game of tug-of-war? Take the Plane Pull® Challenge and find out! Special Olympics Indiana's largest single-day fundraiser offers a unique opportunity for your team of up to 15 people to compete against others to determine who will be the fastest to pull the 82-ton aircraft down a 12-foot track. The fastest team in each division will receive an award. The Plane Pull Challenge also features a festival-like atmosphere. The Indianapolis International Airport postal hub will be transformed with live music, food, souvenirs, games, and other activities throughout the day. THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND! Each team of 15 is asked to raise at least $1,200 in pledges (an average of less than $100 per person). Further instructions are in the link below. Donations can be made online, easily, safely, and securely. All donations will automatically be added to your team total. Then, keep an eye on the leaderboard as prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers. All funds raised through the Plane Pull Challenge support our more than 19,000 athletes as well as our organization’s efforts to end discrimination and empower people with intellectual disabilities across the state of Indiana. *EVENT SPONSORSHIPS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!! Please DM me if interested. To find out more, register a team, &/or make a donation, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gDmpzj8b (If you have sponsored/participated previously in the event, could you reply with how many years and what it means to your group.)

Please help me out by hitting Like and, if you think the cause worthy, repost to your networks. All donations, large or small, are hugely appreciated and roundly celebrated. It's fair to say that the RNA Family is filled with automotive enthusiasts. We love cars, we love driving, and a lot of us have spent time on race tracks - some semi-professionally. Scott Spielman, MBA, MPM and Tony Intrieri, the dream team who created Rally North America, know that we all love a chance to play on tracks we might not otherwise get the chance to visit. So it was in 2023 when we ran hot - OK, warm - laps around Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway. Running in multiple heats, we got to experience what NASCAR racers see of the track. I did it in a rented Audi, though, so it was at a much, much lower speed. My goal for this week is to raise $250 through our donation page, which is linked below. All proceeds go directly to Camp Sunshine and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes. 🏕 ☀ This post is related to Rally North America's 2024 Sunshine Rally. As we do nearly every year, my wife and I are participating under the team name Slightly Lost. Our goal is to raise as much money for the chosen #charity as we possibly can; please help us make a difference for the kids at Camp Sunshine by contributing at our Team Page. Link in the Comments. For more information, or if you represent a business that would like to get exposure during the event, DM me. #fundraising #foragoodcause #rallynorthamerica #campsunshine #slightlylost661

When you donate to a campaign like our current #25for25 campaign, where does your money go? The answer: to write Grants for racers like Laura Hayes. In 2021 Laura went to Pikes Peak for the first time with a small budget and a team that had never run at Pikes Peak before. By the end of practice week she was setting sector times that had people starting to talk about whether we might see a new fastest woman up the Mountain, but in race day there was fog. In 2022 Laura tried to return, and sort of did, but this time she had even less practice, and once again, on race day, the Mountain decided no one was going to go fast. In 2023 budget constraints saw her watching the event from the side-lines. It was time to change the narrative. In 2024 we were able to introduce Laura to Mobil 1, and then we were able to write a Sponsorship Grant towards her Pikes Peak budget. Bill Graham’s #ThunderBunnyRacing team entered their Toyota #SupraGT4 in the inaugural Yokohama Tire Corporation #GT4 class, and Laura and the team headed back to the mountain. On race day the sun shone, and Laura’s stellar qualifying effort meant she got to run early in the day before the Mountain Roads got slick and hot. She not only won the class, she shattered the record for the fastest woman ever up Pikes Peak. In a GT4 car. On street legal tires… Laura is our reason why. Racers like Laura are our reason why. We want to be able to continue to make moments like this happen for racers in 2025 and beyond, and this is why we’re running an online campaign this September to hopefully raise an additional $25,000 to write Grants for racers like Laura in 2025. It costs $25 to take part. Will you donate $25 today? https://lnkd.in/dxHXEkiE #ShiftUpNow #ShiftUpNowFoundation #GranteeSpotlight #FundingFemaleAthletes #DrivingChange

One of the most important moments in a charity auction is right at the very start! 🎤 As an auctioneer, my top priority is to get everyone’s attention before the bidding begins, especially in long rooms where guests can easily be distracted by conversations or the distance from the stage. 📢 Sometimes, you’ve got to get creative to make sure everyone’s focused. I’m not afraid to do whatever it takes to grab attention—even if it means standing on a chair in the middle of the room with a wireless mic! Why? Because once you have the whole room engaged, you set the tone for the auction and keep the energy high throughout. 💥 From experience, I know that when everyone is tuned in and having fun from the get-go, the bids start rolling in and the funds for the cause skyrocket! 🚀 So, whether it’s by moving into the center of the action, or even climbing onto a chair —I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure the crowd is with me! 💪 The key to a successful auction is starting strong! 🎯 Taken at the Rosie May Foundation ball, by Steve Edwards - All of Business Commercial Photography📸 #auctioneer #auction #fundraisingtips #charityevent #fundraiser #FundraisingSuccess #EventTips
