Kennedy’s inaugural address in 1961 continues to resonate as a powerful call to service and civic responsibility. Kennedy urged Americans to think beyond personal gain, to envision a nation driven by the spirit of collective responsibility and selflessness. In a world where challenges abound—from ensuring social justice to safeguarding democracy—his words remind us of our shared duty to contribute positively to society. Kennedy’s message wasn’t only for his era; it’s an enduring challenge for each of us today. Whether through volunteering, engaging in community work, supporting causes that promote equality, or simply helping our neighbors, we all have a role to play. His vision calls us to participate actively in shaping a better, more inclusive future for our country and generations to come. Let’s take this as a reminder to ask ourselves: how can we serve? What part can each of us play in strengthening our communities, lifting others, and building a brighter future?

While taking some downtime before my next adventure (still coming soon), I planted a seed with a handful of community leaders, not knowing it would start to immediately sprout. The seed: How do we address the civic engagement desert in our smaller, northern communities as well as pool resources for greater reach? With continued population growth in counties north of Seattle (Snohomish, Island, Skagit, Kitsap, and Whatcom), opportunities for civic engagement BEYOND POLITICS also needs to grow. As the need for civic engagement and civil discourse increases, so does the need for organizations to provide these opportunities. NorthwestWA Civic Circle (NWCC) aims to be the nonpartisan hub for groups large and small to work collaboratively on their respective missions. Let's address the civic engagement desert by broadening the number of opportunities across these counties, and expanding those engagement opportunities beyond politics. 😊 CES is very pleased that the findings of our #evaluation of the pilot phase of the Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) model have informed the national roll out of this important initiative. The evaluation was a formative and summative evaluation. The formative evaluation findings were reported while the pilots were unfolding and informed the real-time implementation of the LCSP model. The summative evaluation captured the learning and early impact of the LCSPs at the end of the pilot period. Overall, the evaluation findings indicate that the LCSP model fits well with the Government’s vision for building stronger and safe communities, and community safety as a whole of Government responsibility with the community voice/involvement as a core feature. The final report sets out recommendations for consideration by the Department of Justice and LCSPs. The recommendations include drawing up a detailed Implementation Plan for the nationwide roll out of LCSPs over the next 5 years, the need for good oversight arrangements for #implementation, and the further development of reliable and useful #data to inform implementation.
