Four things you need to know about the opening of the Arthur M. Blank Hospital!

More critical access hospitals have converted to rural emergency hospital (REH) status so far in 2024 (six) than in all of 2023 (five). While the overall pace of conversion to REH is about the same, less sole community hospitals have converted so far this year. In total, 27 hospitals have converted to REH status since eligibility began in January 2023.

Notably, these numbers do not include those who died before arriving at the ED or those critically injured patients brought directly to resuscitation. 𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The figures are a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the unacceptable standard of medical care in our healthcare system. As advocates for victims of medical negligence, we call on healthcare providers, government officials, and the community to work together to implement meaningful changes. By increasing capacity, enhancing training, and investing in infrastructure, we can create a healthcare system that prioritises patient safety and delivers the highest standard of care. 🚨 The new report klaxon is getting a lot of work at the moment 🚨 Fantastic new paper from our health policy team, Rosie Beacon, Florence Conway and Alice Semark. Hospitals are a bizarrely under-researched area. The health research ecosystem focusses a lot on conditions and treatments, but there's little research on how to make the systems of the NHS perform much better as a whole. Big focus for us in 2025!
