At Safeguards Consulting, Inc., we believe in not only securing physical spaces but also fostering a supportive community. This October, as we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to take a moment to honor the resilience of those affected - survivors, fighters, and families who stand by their side. Breast cancer touches many lives, and we understand the importance of education, early detection, and support. This said, we would like to highlight a few of the ways our friends are giving back: + Our friends at AnMed Health are bringing a Mobile Mammography Bus to Williamston, SC on October 18th, November 15th, and December 20th for convenient, private, and more comfortable screenings for women over the age of 40 as a way of also providing an additional opportunity for an earlier detection. To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/eFXnB-4N + For over 30 years, our friends at Ralph Lauren have utilized their Pink Pony Fund of The Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation to support cancer-fighting organizations worldwide and to ensure people in underserved communities have access to quality treatment at an earlier and more curable stage. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/esDDqGFU Together, let’s spread awareness, support each other, and contribute to creating a future where breast cancer is no longer a threat. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so let's talk turkey. While we're all about early detection and kicking cancer to the curb, let's not forget the unique hurdles faced by neurodivergent women and LGBTQIA2S+ folks. Research shows breast cancer is the most common cancer among women globally (WHO), with 2.3 million new cases last year. Early screenings are lifesavers, bumping up those five-year survival rates to a solid 99% if caught early (American Cancer Society). -->But here's the kicker: LGBTQIA2S+ individuals face discrimination and stigma in healthcare, limiting access to essential screenings (CDC). -->Our neurodivergent sisters often navigate a confusing healthcare maze, leading to delayed diagnoses. So, how can you help? 1. Push for Inclusive Healthcare: Demand sensitivity training for healthcare providers. 2. Get Yourself Checked: If you're a woman, neurodivergent, or part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, keep up with mammograms and self-exams. 3. Support and Donate: Back organizations focusing on underserved communities. -->Join support groups, share your experiences, and let's advocate for inclusive care--by sharing with friends, family etc. -->Your actions, big or small, can truly make a difference. Image Description: The image features an animated woman with pink wavy hair and freckles, wearing a pink blazer. She is sitting and holding a small brown and white bulldog with large, expressive eyes. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #ThinkPink #InclusiveHealthcare #LGBTQIA2SHealth #NeurodivergentHealth

🎀 October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀 Today, we honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember those we've lost in the battle against breast cancer. As an economic justice nonprofit, we understand that access to early detection and quality healthcare is not equally available to everyone, and this inequality must be addressed. We are dedicated to advocating for healthcare equity in all communities, ensuring no one is left behind. Let's unite to raise awareness, support ongoing research, and uplift everyone touched by this disease. Early detection saves lives, so schedule your screenings and encourage your loved ones to do the same! Let's spread love, hope, and awareness—because everyone deserves a chance to thrive. As October comes to a close, let's take a moment to reflect on the alarming disparities Black women face when it comes to breast cancer. Black women under 50 are 2.5 times more likely to die from breast cancer compared to white women in the same age group. In the UK, this figure is even more shocking: Black women are 42% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. These disparities are rooted in systemic issues, including late-stage diagnosis, lack of access to quality care, and health disparities. Around 40% of Black women are diagnosed at stages III and IV, compared to 29% of white women, significantly impacting their outcomes. We can't stand by and let these numbers continue to rise. Intervention is crucial. My organisation From Me To You are here to advocate for Black women affected by breast cancer. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed, please reach out to us for support and guidance. #BreastCancerAwareness #BlackWomenHealth #FromMeToYou

Our Mission "We want to help other women with this disease as we would want to be helped ourselves." Our History The organization was founded in 1997 by four women with breast cancer who felt that this community’s assistance to women with their disease could be broader and more thoughtfully conceived. Specifically, these founders were moved by the pro-active approach and attitude of a close friend who had not survived. Goal 1 First, they envisioned a single site dedicated to women with breast cancer, a place where women would be treated with particular understanding of their needs with a medical team approach. Their vision, in addition to their fundraising efforts, contributed to the development of the Breast Care Center which Community Hospital of Monterey County (CHOMP) opened in 2002. Goal 2 Second they had helped each other with peer counseling through their early years with breast cancer. Their efforts contributed to the development of a Patient Navigator Program and several Cancer Support groups currently administered by the CHOMP Comprehensive Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society. Goal 3 The third objective of BCAG founders was educational, to supply relevant information about breast cancer to patients, survivors and their families through regular public meetings with guest speakers. 🎀 October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth 🎀 It is a time to honor the strength, resilience, and courage of those affected by this critical illness. As someone whose family and friends have faced breast cancer, this cause holds a special place in my heart. Early detection saves lives. Regular screenings, self-exams, and knowing the warning signs can make all the difference. If there's one piece of advice I'd give, it's this: Don't wait. Schedule that mammogram, encourage your loved ones to do the same, and be vigilant about your health. Breast cancer doesn't just impact those diagnosed; it touches families, friends, and entire communities. Together, we can show support through empathy, advocacy, and education. Whether it's donating to research, sharing resources, or simply checking in on someone who may be quietly fighting this battle, every gesture matters. To those currently facing breast cancer, survivors, and those we've lost: You are seen, you are loved, and your fight inspires us all to keep pushing for a cure. 💗 Let's spread awareness, stand together, and continue the fight against breast cancer. #BreastCancerAwareness #SupportTheFight #EarlyDetectionSavesLives

In today's episode of the EMPOWERED With Angela T. Moore Podcast, I’m thrilled to welcome Dr. Michael D. Lutz, a renowned urologist and president of the MIU Men's Health Foundation. International Men’s Health Week is June 10-16, and Dr. Lutz is focused on saving lives and supporting survivorship. “We need to reach as many men as possible – and the partners and families who care about them – to get screened” for prostate cancer, he explains. His organization is sponsoring three main fundraisers this month: Cogs & Kegs, a group bicycle ride; Mulligans for Men, a friendly competition at TopGolf; and Run for the Ribbon, an annual run/walk at the Detroit Zoo. In our conversation, we dive into the Foundation's transformative work, their advocacy for men's health and the inspiring stories of prostate cancer survivors. October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a global initiative that highlights the crucial importance of prevention and early detection. I am proud to stand with this movement, promoting education on this vital issue and fostering empathy for those navigating their fight against breast cancer. At Weatherford, our commitment goes beyond raising awareness. As a team, we actively engage in initiatives that enhance knowledge, provide support, and uplift patients and their families. We firmly believe that prevention is key, and small actions—such as sharing information and building community support—can drive significant impact. This month, I encourage my network to prioritize regular check-ups, participate in awareness campaigns, or simply spread messages of solidarity and encouragement. Together, we can shape a more informed, supportive, and compassionate community. #BreastCancerAwareness #PreventionSavesLives #AwarenessMonth

Two months ago, I shared a post about how our FRWRD management team started a fun new tradition—wearing pink on Wednesdays. It all began as a light-hearted joke after a conversation about movie quotes (Mean Girls, of course) and a teammate's admission that they hadn’t seen many popular films. Fast forward to this week, and our little tradition took on a bigger purpose: raising awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Yesterday, we had the whole crew—management, operators, maintenance workers, chemists, engineers, and even a few of our Trustees—showing up in pink for a photo. I’m always amazed by how these small moments of team bonding can bring people closer and make work just a little more enjoyable. It’s a reminder that no matter the industry, it’s the human connections that make the difference. Anyone who thinks their main job as a manager isn't to elevate culture and morale might be in the wrong line of work. A positive team culture helps us navigate the tough times and makes every challenge a little easier to tackle together. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #TeamBonding #PinkWednesdays #LocalGovernment #Wastewater #BuildingCulture #Leadership #Leadership
"On Wednesdays, we wear pink!" Today, the FRWRD team is going full 'Mean Girls' mode—not just for the fun, but to show our support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime? Early detection and treatment can make all the difference. Just like we work every day to transform wastewater into clean water, we believe in the power of transformation and hope in the fight against breast cancer. Whether it’s turning the tough stuff into something better—be it water or health outcomes—every effort counts! So, we’re rocking our pink hoodies to honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and raise awareness for early detection. Here’s to a future where both our water and our communities are cleaner and healthier! #OnWednesdaysWeWearPink #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #FRWRDCares #ThinkPink #FromPoopToHope #FlushOutCancer #FRWRD #LocalGovernment #Wastewater #LocGov
