Bold visioning is key to the future growth of an area.
An area of London that I never cease to love visiting is the South Bank, anchored by its strategic location to Waterloo Station. Today’s proposed redevelopment plans will do for the area what the King’s Cross investment has achieved. But notice, principle number one = be bold and make the area pedestrian and visitor friendly. Closing and moving roads isn’t easy and it takes real vision. Some will say “yes, but it’s London, it’s different, they can afford anything.” But isn’t the most important ingredient to have the optimism and the creativity…not sure this costs anything, but it does need the right people with the right mind-set. Too often, particularly away from our core cities, vision is held back by fear of failure, particularly within an electoral cycle
