"Demure." "Sigma." "Sus." "Skibidi." "Cap." "Riz." If you don’t know what these trendy slang words of 2024 mean, don’t worry—you’re still fine at dinner parties. But here’s something you should know about 2024: 👉 Everyone loves saying Customer Success is dead. Let’s clear that up: 🦣 It’s not extinct. ⚙️ It’s evolving. 💡 And it’s sparking some tough conversations. On the SaaS Trailblazers Podcast, Phoebe Zhang asked me questions every SaaS leader is asking: - Do SaaS companies still need Customer Success teams? - Can Professional Services fill the gap? - If Customer Success is “everyone’s job,” how do you adapt your structure? - And...who really owns upsell and growth? If you’re leading a team, redefining strategy, or just wondering what comes next, this episode is for you. Give it a listen: Apple: https://lnkd.in/gwc2ZBBV Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gUwHwB-Q

Starting small and delivering big with Digital CS Part 1- Automated Success Plans. I’m not an expert on Digital CS so I decided to brush up by binging on Alex Turkovic's The Digital Customer Success Podcast. One of the themes is perfection getting in the way of progress. In this video we focus on optimizing Day 1 of onboarding by automating the creation of a client portal. This has their success plan and timeline built around their launch date, training links, outcomes, usage stats and product updates. It’s not perfect but it is progress. Let me know how you would improve on this and I'll try to incorporate it into part 2! If you’re interested in learning more about onboarding, success plans and digital CS I’ve linked some interviews that might help you like they helped me. We just dropped a new episode of SaaS Expert Voices, featuring Dan Balcauski, Founder and Chief Pricing Officer at Product Tranquility and a true pricing guru. If you’re in the B2B SaaS space and looking to optimize your pricing strategy, this episode is a must-listen! Why you should tune in: 📊 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬: We discussed the importance of aligning your pricing strategy with clear business objectives. Whether you're aiming to maximize revenue or profit, understanding the metric you're optimizing for is key. Dan shared how companies can avoid the trap of trying to do everything at once, which often leads to suboptimal outcomes. 🔍 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝟐𝐁 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬: Dan kicked off by busting a major myth: pricing isn’t just about the amount you charge. It's about who you charge and how you structure those charges. This mindset shift is crucial for any SaaS leader looking to optimize their revenue. 🤝 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Afraid to discuss pricing with your customers? These pricing conversations are much like those tough talks you have with your kids about certain life topics–inevitable and crucial. Dan emphasizes the importance of discussing pricing with customers early and strategically, instead of waiting until the final stages of their decision-making process. 💡 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Dan shares how companies like Intercom are revolutionizing their pricing models with AI capabilities. They differentiate between tools that enhance human performance and fully autonomous solutions, each with distinct pricing strategies. If you're looking to refine your pricing strategy and drive growth in 2024, this episode is packed with actionable insights. Share your thoughts and let’s keep the conversation going. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gVw94gVB

A few things I've learned about ICP (ideal customer profile)… [note: Keyplay.io can help 🎯] 1.) Don't confuse TAM with ICP. -- TAM is about sizing (great for your VC pitch). -- ICP defines who you serve best (foundation for sales & marketing). 2.) Look past closed won. -- Describe your *best customers* (renewals, high NPS, advocates). -- e.g. We are best for {{precise types}} companies, in {{particular situations}} who are facing {{specific problems}}. 3.) Translate from strategy to operations. -- Go beyond the PowerPoint slide. -- Translate into account scoring models, data, and frontline enablement. 4.) “Intent” doesn’t replace “ideal fit.” -- Intent signals help with timing. Fit is the foundation. -- Pursue the combo, but put first things first. 5.) Treat ICP as a program, not a project. -- It's never done. Start somewhere and plan to revise regularly. -- Get regular input from the frontlines: AEs, SDRs, and don't forget CSMs. What would you add to this? Last week I talked with Trinity, Jarod, and Mark about ICP building on The Proof Point podcast. I loved learning from their experiences and trading notes.
