Happy OT Week for 2024! This year Occupational Therapy is celebrating 80 years of connection, with the first Occupational Therapists Club starting in 1944. Wow! The South Australian OT division was established in 1963 and then in 2009, the state and territory clubs were consolidated to form Occupational Therapy Australia. In 2024, we are encouraged to reflect on the rich history of our own community and your personal journey as an OT in Australia. Comment below... 👇 If you ARE an OT, what do you love about your role? If you AREN'T an OT, what's been the experience you've had when working with an OT?

April is #OTMonth, and we're celebrating the incredible and important work of occupational therapy professionals to help people of all ages participate in life! How much do you know about #OT? According to AOTA #OccupationalTherapy can help people participate in the everyday activities that matter most to them. Occupational therapists are skilled healthcare professionals who can evaluate how a person's condition (or risk for one) affects their body and mind using a holistic perspective. They use research and scientific evidence to ensure their interventions are effective, and help incorporate valued daily activities - or occupations - into the rehabilitation process. To celebrate OT week, I worked with a few of my fellow students to create a quiz to promote occupational therapy, debunking common myths about the field. We handed the quiz sheets out to students from healthcare courses so that they could get to know more about who they might be working with in the future. Hopefully, this provides a step towards eliminating the misconceptions that we face as occupational therapists #OTweek2024

A child may need occupational therapy to build essential life skills, improve motor abilities, and enhance independence. Occupational therapy can help children who struggle with sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, self-care tasks like dressing and eating, as well as social and emotional skills. It also aids children with focus and attention challenges, using strategies to support self-regulation and routines. #OccupationalTherapy #OT #OccupationalTherapist #OccupationalTherapyResources
