The Welcome Home project is here to make temporary and emergency accomodation that is suitable for mums at a saving to the tax payer. FULL STOP. It is inhumane to allow mums no access to cooking facilities. To allow children to suffer malnutrition for want of access to a hob or oven in this country. To keep mums for 257 days in a travelodge at a cost of up to £110 a night. Even if you have no concern for the health of the family (which is ultimately a further cost to the NHS later down the line) the current accomodation costs alone are astronomical. TA and EA is bankrupting the boroughs. The system is broken. And the people who work in it. Children’s social services, housing, homeless support workers, charities are all exhausted. They have little choice but to continue placing mums in accomodation they know to not be suitable because no one is rethinking the whole process. Hammersmith & Fulham Council are doing it differently. If you would like to too then please get in touch. http://welcome-home.org.uk

Today is International Men's Day and the theme for 2024 is 'making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys'. Statistics reveal that males working in construction are three times more likely to die from suicide than males in other sectors. This is the shocking reality of our sector, in which males feel like they can't talking about their mental and physical health among peers. Alongside our sister company Neville Special Projects Ltd, we are committed to making a positive change for those men who are struggling, which is why we chose The Lighthouse Charity as one of our Charities of the Year for 2024. Lighthouse is the only UK and Ireland charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction industry and their families. You can find out more about the Lighthouse Charity in the comments below. #InternationalMensDay #MensHealth #IMD2024

Did we mention we were on the telly?... No problem... if you missed it and would like to see what we are doing together with the Salvation Army and Wiltshire Council, click the link below… https://lnkd.in/eukN_36t Please subscribe. Typically, unfurnished properties in social housing don't come with flooring. At only £7.58 per m2, this innovative carpeting solution is cost-effective and perfect for social housing residents. 👍 Carpeting provides insulation that helps reduce energy bills and noise and enhances household comfort. If you can't afford flooring, you may be referred to KFR Crisis Provision via Wiltshire Council or one of the 40 Wiltshire-based organisations that provide support to vulnerable people.❤️ https://kfr.org.uk info@kfr.org.uk 01380 720200 #recycling #sustainability #dignity #noneedtowaste #amazeballs #reduce #environment #diy #repurpose #charity #kfrwiltshire #reuse #sustainable #familiesincrisis #green #recylce #reusereducerecylce #sustainableliving #thisiswiltshire #devizes #donate

📈Between January to March we saw a 13.5% increase in the number of housing issue inquiries in comparison to last year. This reflects the ever-apparent and on-going housing crisis which London is feeling acutely. These statistics only represent the number of inquiries we receive - not the actual figures. #charity #barnet #citizensadvice #socialwelfare

Independent Sector has released its annual Value of Volunteer Time report. In 2023, the value of volunteer time increased by 5.3% from 2022 to a national average of $33.49 per hour. In South Dakota, the 2023 average is slightly lower at $29.32 per hour. State-by-state breakdowns are included in the annual report. These estimates are equal to the average pay for all production and non-supervisory workers on private non-farm payrolls as calculated by the US Dept. of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. The rate can be valuable to charities when reporting various activities performed by volunteers as it supplements raw hours worked with an estimated dollar figure. #nonprofit #charity #volunteer

NZ Red Cross means the world to me. I've been making a difference in the "health and wellbeing at work" sector for decades, and NZ Red Cross have been professionally and personally invaluable, particularly after the Christchurch earthquakes. You might not be aware, but our family personally accessed a NZ Red Cross crisis relocation fund, which helped us to leave our broken home and move into a shed, on land that we purchased with our EQC payout. It quite simply changed our life. We paid every penny back at the earliest opportunity (we didn't need to) because we wanted the funds to be available to other families facing crisis. Professionally, I worked alongside many of the NZ Red Cross team during those rebuild years and am lucky enough to still call many of them my friends. I learned from them, and their work was influential in my decision to design The Great Recharge. I noticed the opportunity for building readiness for the Plot Twists that happen to us in life, so we can be stronger when we navigate them. Lead the Charge (one of The Great Recharge workshops) complements the Psychological First Aid training that is offered by NZ Red Cross, by giving leaders the confidence to talk about wellbeing at work BEFORE employees reach crisis point. But I am aware that Psychological First Aid training is still a critical resource in our Healthy Cultures toolkit, and not all businesses can afford to train up their team which is why this is the fourth year in a row that I have donated to the NZ Red Cross Psychological First Aid fund. This small contribution ensures that they can continue their critical work. If you'd like to find out more, please go here: https://lnkd.in/gm4sCFFt I'm just one person, and I'm self-employed so charitable giving has a big impact on my bottom line (particularly this year, in an economy where training has been put to the bottom of many lists), but I hope that sharing this inspires YOU to find ways to support organisations doing great work in the subjects that mean the world to you. #NZRedCross #ChangeALife #TheGreatRecharge #CharitableGiving #MakeADifference #HereForGood #Gratitude #LeadTheCharge

Today, we were privileged to welcome one of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity team into our factory to deliver a powerful message, via his own lived experiences, to our workforce about the importance of looking after your Mental Health and being aware of others. There are no photos here. We didn’t want the employees to feel like this was a “tick box” exercise or a social media driven event. That’s not why we do these things. We do them because we care. However, we did feel the need to share this online, as there are many companies out there like ours, that will hopefully organise something like this for their staff in the future. If you didn’t know, The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. A crucial element of their strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry; this extends to us in manufacturing, supplying products to the construction industry. You can find out more about the charity here… https://lnkd.in/eJf7-C4i #mentalhealth #welbeing

Economics: Scarcity and Charity For charity works, available resources and funds are always limited, but needs are unlimited. In order to make best use of the available fund, we need to be involved or help sincere people to establish the right process and priorities in place. Few steps for example: 1. Have a dedicated team and network to support the process. 2. Identify the more deserving recipients and their important needs. 3. Have reliable sources to gather enough fund and support. 4. Use the reliable support people to plan and oversee the implementation of the projects involving the participation of the recipients themselves. 5. Follow up to see the effectiveness of the completed projects; learn from the experience and plan better for future projects. Alhamdulillah following such procedure and with the assistance of a competent team and participation of the receivers, a house repair project is completed in quick time. The roof and walls of this house of a security guard with meagre income needed urgent fix before the rainy season to protect the family from rain water. Whatever each of us can do, let us try to do it. Such little things we do around us has enormous pleasure and welfare. #Economics #scarcity #charity #Bangladesh
