With just over a month to go until #ibc2024, it's time to introduce the Sky team heading to Amsterdam. Today, we meet Margaret Lazenby, Laura Miller and Gemma McGullion to find out about Access Services & Localisation. Tell us about the work you do Access Services & Localisation is about ensuring there is a level playing field for all our customers, regardless of their access needs. This means providing subtitling, audio-description and making our content available in different languages so all our customers can enjoy Sky’s amazing content. How long have you been involved with Access Services and what’s the best thing about your job? Gemma: I’ve been at Sky for 17 years and my job has always had some interaction with Access Services & Localisation. The best thing is knowing you are helping people and providing access to Sky’s great content for customers that otherwise wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy it. Mags: I’ve been involved with Access Services for around 32 years. I’ve seen so many changes and technological advances means the time take to produce a subtitle or audio description file is now greatly reduced. The best thing about this world is knowing you’re enhancing the customer’s experience and working with teams who are always so engaged and passionate about what they do. Laura: I’ve been in Access Services for over 20 years. In that time, I’ve done live subtitling and audio description, managed the processes and now I’m looking at new technology and new ways of working. Because of the work the team does, a family at home with accessibility needs can sit and enjoy the experience together. You’re helping people in a constantly evolving world. There is always new content and new technology. There’s still room for growth, it’s never dull! Tell us something we don't know! You may be surprised to know that 80% of all 18-24 year olds use subtitles, showing how people now consume content in different ways. Live subtitling is harder than it looks! Live Subtitlers have 6 seconds to listen, re-speak and edit. It's like working with an echo! Come and meet Margaret, Laura and Gemma at IBC - International Broadcasting Convention 13-16 September. Hall 14, Stand 14,B09. 🔗 Register here using customer code IBC11601 for your complimentary visitor pass: https://reg.ibc.org/ #ibc #accessservices #localisation #audiodescription #contentservices #WeAreContent

Here is a video from Indra A. Books about the online program launching in January
I know. I know. Spain is amazing. My part of Catalunya is amazing. But hey, sometimes you just can't travel and hang out with me. I get it. But...there is an alternative...same great transformational program, online from where you are. Take a listen to this video to find out more and then head on over to the website for the full program details. Who is joining me in January? (and btw it is weekly for 12 weeks not all in one week) #leadershipmatters #WFA #leadershipdevelopment #inclusion Note: The transcript with auto-scroll is on the right so the captions are easier to read. They were fading into the background on the video itself and blocking some of the content. https://lnkd.in/d5njNN93

🚀 After my recent experience at IBC, I've been diving deep into the Media & Entertainment sector, particularly examining the flow of content production from pre-production to production, distribution, and consumer feedback. I've been pondering: Are we missing a crucial opportunity to establish feedback loops between each stage of this process? How can we better integrate insights from not just consumers but other facets of the process? I’d love to hear your thoughts and insights on this! 🤔💡 #MediaAndEntertainment #Innovation #IBC2024 #IndustryInsights

Question?⁉️ Are y’all using NIL language on the conference speaker circuit? NIL and the Speaker Circuit: A New Frontier? Hey LinkedIn Fam! 👋 I'm curious about a potential new trend: Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals for speakers and event producers. We've seen NIL revolutionize college sports, but could there be room for it in the speaking and conference world too? 🤔 💡 - Can NIL become a valuable asset for speakers and event producers? - How might it impact contract negotiations, marketing, or event promotion? - Are there potential risks or benefits that industry professionals should be aware of? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you're currently on the speaker circuit or part of an event production team. Your unique perspectives can bring fresh ideas to the table! Drop your comments below! 🌟 #NIL #SpeakerCircuit #EventProduction #Conference #Innovationi

There was a time, long time ago, I COULD NOT WALK Don't be shocked There was a time YOU COULD NOT WALK too 😄 We crawled for months then we started holding on to things and standing on our own Then we began to walk, imperfectly at first, then perfectly eventually Now most of us can sprint effortlessly I know this is a biological and natural process but the point is, if you keep doing something repeatedly, it would stick - Learning a skill - Working out - Mastering a musical instrument - Mastering a course - Mastering a software - Growing your social media brand etc These activities and skills take time and deliberate practice to get to the stage of mastery The problem is that many of us tend to stop what we are doing long enough before we start getting the results we desire - Keep buiding your brand here - Keep learning those skills - Keep practicing with that guitar - Practice using that software one feature at a time You would find yourself accustomed to these skills just as we have been to walking naturally without even thinking about the muscles we need to use for walking These trees right here were once seeds in the ground Happy New Week guys!

As a 3rd Year student at the University of Manchester studying Management, Leadership & Leisure, I am studying Edutainment & Leisure as one of my optional modules in the 1st semester. As a means of encouraging us to think critically about the impact of Edutainment, Dr. Miri Firth PFHEA has given us the task of aiming to understand the effectiveness of Edutainment in an area that interests us. I have chosen to focus on the Festivals and Events industry - particularly GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL EVENTS LIMITED. Glastonbury Festival is one of the largest festivals in the world and the diverse mix of entertainment it hosts every year makes it an extremely interesting case-study for the topic of Edutainment & Leisure. Therefore, I ask anyone who works with GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL EVENTS LIMITED or a festival that is similar in construction to answer these questions: 1. How do you balance between maintaining entertainment value and delivering educational content? 2. Have you observed any long-term behavioral or attitudinal changes among attendees due to Edutainment initiatives? 3. What are some challenges you face in implementing Edutainment content at a large-scale event like Glastonbury? #edutainment #uom #engagement #glastonbury #festivals
