Happy Monday! Let us talk about a joint pain I have with many of you: WORK-LIFE BALANCE. As we embark on a new week, I want to share valuable insights from a friend's recommendation of michael mosley's podcast. The podcast focuses on lifestyle habits that significantly impact our well-being. The episode outlines five key behaviors: 1️⃣ Avoid prolonged sitting (trust me: I have done many walking meetings in my life). 2️⃣ Experiment with caloric restriction or intermittent fasting (that one is not easy when traveling, I know) 3️⃣ Allocate time for stress relief—stress is a significant inflammation driver. (Besides meditating, I always prepare my sketchbook to draw or have a book for interesting reading.) 4️⃣ Adopt a 'Mediterranean plus' diet, adding nuts and berries for extra benefits. 5️⃣ Engage in regular, enjoyable exercise (for me, it is a must-do, like a daily medicine I need to take) Ideally, do all of them ✅ However, consider starting from at least one and continuing to drive the required behavioral change. Choosing one to focus on? For me, regular exercise is the standout, pivotal for maintaining both mental and physical health. Finding time for health amidst our busy schedules is challenging for many of us, especially in executive roles. We're often caught in a cycle of stress, lack of exercise, unhealthy eating (and a mind that never disconnects). I've felt these pressures, too, but I found (or am trying hard) ways to integrate health practices into my life. Years ago, training for the World Jiu-Jitsu Master Championship amidst a hectic travel schedule and a significant campaign launch was one of my most enriching experiences. Nowadays, regular swims three times a week—sometimes joined by my daughter—gym sessions with my son, runs with my wife, and even ballet classes with my daughter are not just activities but life-changing experiences that reconnect me with what truly matters. If you're struggling with similar challenges, you're not alone! We all face this 'common enemy'—the pressure of a demanding lifestyle and growing responsibilities as we advance in our careers. Please take a moment to listen to this insightful podcast and consider how these practices might fit into your life. Start now, and HAVE A GOOD WEEK! Listen to the Podcast. I hope it's useful to you. #healthylifestyle #exercise #stressrelief #MediterraneanDiet #intermittentfasting #worklifebalance #executivelife #personaldevelopment Thanks, Simon Goldberg!
If, like me, you are looking to live your best life -- then check out this excellent podcast episode by Michael Mosley, which focuses on 5 behaviors to live by. Our podcaster then chooses one that we should all practice, maybe daily. The top 5 include: 1. Not sitting for long periods of time; 2. Practicing caloric restriction or intermittent fasting every so often; 3. Making time for stress relief (stress is a big driver of inflammation); 4. Eating a 'Mediterranean plus diet' (the 'plus'= adding nuts and berries); and 5. Exercising across your life (do something active that u enjoy, so that you will repeat again and again). If you're going to choose just one, it should be #5: exercising, and trying to do it as many days per week as possible. Give it a listen and start living your best life today! #healthylifestyle #exercise #stressrelief #MediterraneanDiet #intermittentfasting
