Walking = 🧠⚡️ Walking in nature = 🧠🧠⚡️⚡️ 😌Natural environments have restorative benefits that allow us to recover from directed attention fatigue. 🌳While in nature, we’re presented with sights and sounds of trees, animals, creeks, birdsong, clouds, sunsets, and landscapes that we can contemplate with involuntary, effortless attention—a kind of “soft fascination” or awe. 🔋This type of attention is resistant to fatigue and allows us to replenish our capacity for directed attention. It's coincidence that this item came up in my feed today as I was planning to share my perspectives on walking. The article does a good job of describing the many health benefits and I can attest to many. An advantage not completely spelled out is that I believe walking is more sustainable than other types of exercise. And if it is sustainable, you are more likely to stick with it and enjoy the many health advantages; both physical and mental. While the author recommends finding a walking buddy, I find that walking alone can also have advantages. There's something positive to be said about spending time away from the noise and being alone with your thoughts. It's like meditation in motion. I attribute the clarity that comes from a solo walk with helping me reach important decisions, find solutions to challenging problems and provide a respite from difficult situations and a lifeline during tough times. I would recommend a walking program to just about anyone. The simplicity and rhythm of motion can help you improve your perspective and feel recharged. So lace up those walking shoes and get started!
Walking reduces stress, cheers you up and increases self-esteem. An expert explains why it’s crucial to get outside and walk, even if it’s just 15 minutes: https://cle.clinic/3itJfvd

Unwinding is like giving your body the space to release stored tension or restrictions naturally. It’s a gentle, intuitive process where your body finds its way to freedom, often through spontaneous movements or stretches. Think of it as your inner wisdom guiding you back to balance and flow - just let go and follow where it takes you. #DanceYourHeartOut #ShakeItOff #BodyUnwinding #ExpressThroughMovement #EnergyRelease #FindYourFlow #TensionRelease #ConnectionThroughDance #SomaticHealing #NaturalHealing

Start each day with heart healthy habits. Form a healthy habit loop such as after getting out of bed, say “it is going to be a great day” and then reward with a smile or high 5 to celebrate. Do this everyday for 30 days and see how your health improves. #lifestylemedicine #hearthealth #habits #behaviourdesign #selfawareness #feelings
When your brain creates a habit, it needs three things: a cue, a routine, and a reward. This is called a habit loop. Here’s how you can use the process to create a new walking routine. #HealthyHabits

I love this reminder from Kierkegaard. Walking is such a simple yet powerful way to clear the mind, spark creativity, and nurture well-being. It resonates with how movement can shift our perspective, helping us literally and figuratively "walk away" from burdens and find clarity. Whether for health, reflection, or inspiration, the act of walking grounds us in the present while guiding us forward. Theologian and philosopher Soren Kierkegaard on the power of walking: "Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. Even if one were to walk for one's health and it were constantly one station ahead—I would still say: Walk! Besides, it is also apparent that in walking one constantly gets as close to well-being as possible, even if one does not quite reach it—but by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Health and salvation can be found only in motion... if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right."
