So incredibly grateful for all of this. Our official launch isn't even before January 2025, but things turned out differently. For the better. This month marks our first month at our local farmers market @fultonstmarket serving our own community, gathering feedback and learning A LOT. Every conversation we're having and every week passing marks another step forward and into the right direction. Thank you. for being a part of our journey. - Jeff #cleaneating #glutenfreecandy #holistichealth #cleancandy #pureyumscandy #cleansweets #holisticeating #cleaneatinglifestyle #michiganbusiness #grandrapidsbusiness #grmi #grandrapidsmichigan #grandrapidsmi #grandrapids #downtowngr #downtowngrandrapids

Like all cool ideas, it started over a beer. 🍻 It's a humid evening in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, and amidst the dense foliage stands a humble cinder block cabin. I chat with a fellow adventurer, Sam Taylor. As we celebrate Sam’s race finish, conversation turns to wild ideas, it seems to happen often when I have a beer in my hand. Suddenly, an audacious plan to create a race unlike any other, spanning five conservancies in Kenya, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the unsung heroes: the rangers safeguarding wildlife. We got to work. With all five conservancies teaming with wildlife, we soon found ourselves on a journey fraught with challenges. From navigating bureaucratic hurdles to overcoming logistical problems. Not once did either of us think about quitting but we knew we were going to have to create an incredible team to make it possible. As we approach our 5th edition and nearly half a million pound raised for ranger and rhino welfare. I thought it would be a good time to reflect on what key things made it all possible. Shared Purpose When everyone rallied behind a common cause, the magic happened. We defined a clear, inspiring purpose that resonated with every team member, driving them to go above and beyond. Collaborative Spirit We encouraged an environment where collaboration thrived. Embraced diverse perspectives, harnessed collective strengths, and watched as innovation flourished to overcome challenges. Resilience in Adversity Challenges were inevitable, but it's how we responded that made the difference. As Ultra runners ourselves, there was an inbuilt culture of resilience, where setbacks are seen as opportunities for growth and exciting. Celebrating Milestones We Acknowledged and celebrated every step of the journey. Whether it was a small victory or a monumental achievement, that recognition fuelled motivation and strengthened the team. Legacy of Impact Beyond the immediate success lies a lasting legacy of impact. Our team want to leave a meaningful footprint, creating positive change that resonates far and wide. Before the day kicks off with football (because it’s the #Lions, of course!), family, friends, and food, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and express my gratitude. Today, I am reminded of the incredible network of people who have supported Vertical Harvest Farms along the way. Every week, I see how far we’ve come—not just because of the passion and perseverance within our team, but because of you: the people who have joined us on this journey, shared our story, left a thoughtful comment, or told someone about our mission. You’ve helped us build what we call the Vertical Harvest Community of the Willing, a growing network of individuals who believe in us and enable us to create meaningful impact every single day. This year has been hard—really hard. Yet, in these challenges, I see the resilience of our community and the power of the values we share. Together, we’ve cultivated something extraordinary: • Authenticity: We’ve stayed true to who we are, driven by a mission that inspires and unites us. • Defiant optimism: We’ve faced challenges head-on with unwavering belief in what’s possible. • Relentless commitment: We’ve kept moving forward, even in uncertain times, step by step towards a common goal of achieving change. Recently, I was asked what has surprised me most on this journey. My answer was simple: the profound impact of the people around us. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about reaching milestones; it’s about the relationships we’ve built, the lives we’ve touched, and the collective belief in a brighter future. So, to everyone who has supported us—whether by offering guidance, cheering us on, or simply sharing our story—thank you. Your support is transformative. You’ve made a difference, and we couldn’t do this without you. Here’s to all of you, and to the work we’ll continue to do together. Happy Thanksgiving from Caroline Croft Estay, myself and the whole Vertical Harvest Farms team! #GoLions #FoodResiliency #CustomizedEmployment

Dream big 🙏🏻 Take even bigger steps; Prepare for an AMAZING LIFE! Our journey started with a dream to raise our family of 10 with a vision for something “different”. In reality, we wanted raw milk for our growing children and discovered that we needed to buy a farm and source our own! 🥛 🐮 Did we know what that looked like 15 years ago? 😆 Not quite! Fast forward - We now grow our own food & raise our own fresh dairy; homeschool our 8 children with several now finished and starting their own successful businesses; started a family-friendly agritourism business on our homestead and most recently, developed a Farm & Forest School program for an alternative learning experience. Change is good - it’s also a bit scary! Faith, prayer and a vision for the next generation have kept us on the “old paths” and a simple lifestyle. Need encouragement and inspiration from an ordinary mama who loves being a “keeper of home”, raising and educating her children, relaxing and finding comfort in nature & creation, experimenting and not being afraid of failure (like, on a daily basis!)…then, stick around! SHARE with someone else who ❤️⬆️ or SHARE your vision in the comments below and let’s start living the dream. #ontariohomestead #educationalfarm #homesteadlife #dairygoats #farmschool #futuregeneration #firstgenerationfarmers #homestead #homesteading #homesteadlife #learnaswegrow #rawmilk

"Hoe your own row." For me, this phrase took on a literal meaning when I was volunteering at a small local farm. Have you ever literally hoed a row?? I hadn't. It was a grueling event—pulling up old growth, tilling the soil, raking out rocks and roots, shaping the rows, and smoothing the top for seeds. It was repetitive, exhausting, and left me with a sore back and blistered hands. And yet, I loved every minute of it. Truly! I got my system down, put on my podcast, put my head down and dug in. Then one day, the farm manager said, "You’re so good at making rows. I got way more planting done yesterday than I expected." Vindication! My own row, in this case, was literal. But in life, there are so many different rows. We often try to be the jack of all trades. But for the rest of that summer, I was the "row-maker"—the master of rows. And it felt so good. When I focused on my row, I was able to refine it, design systems around it, and make things more efficient. Sometimes, what seems terribly hard at first, can become effortless when we zero-in on what we love about it -- what really feels good about doing it. By honing in on that, we make the work easier and more impactful. In hospitality and events, it’s no different. We all have our own 'rows' to hoe. When we lean into what lights us up, we not only make our work more fulfilling but also contribute more effectively to our teams and the experiences we create. What’s your row to hoe? #LocalFarm #events #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #Hospitality #WorkSmart #Focus #SupportLocal #Volunteering

How to get the best referrals using your book Who has been some of your best customers, clients, strategic partners, etc.? I’m willing to bet they were referrals. A recommendation acts like a shortcut. Whereas finding out about a product, program, service, company, etc., elsewhere may involve a long ‘warming up period,' a recommendation from a trusted source makes a person move faster towards a positive decision. Guess what? If you have a book, you can increase referrals by as much as 80%! But only if you use these 6 proven steps. If you're writing a book, you will be able to implement these almost immediately. And if you’re yet to write a book, join us at the Thought Leader Author Forum this Wednesday, where I will share the case studies and stories of referral success so you can visualise what you’ll be able to achieve once you’ve written your book. 12pm UK time tomorrow (Wednesday) – reg link – CLICK HERE: https://www.rfr.bz/ll8homs Additionally, we've partnered with a fantastic organisation called Business For Good, which means we'll make a donation on your behalf to a worthwhile cause that aligns with your ethics on social entrepreneurship, sustainability, environmental performance... Choose from: 🌳 Plant 1 tree 🍽️ Provide 2 meals 🏠 Provide 3 days of shelter 🐄 Provide 2 educational programs on animal protection All you have to do is register, and you'll be sent an email within minutes where you can make your choice! See you tomorrow... #bookpublishing #thoughtleadership #referrals https://www.rfr.bz/ll8homh
