🐑 What's the difference between lamb, hogget and mutton? We asked PfL member Fidelity Weston from Romshed Farm, who farms 100% pasture-fed (aka Pasture for Life) sheep. 🗣️ "I think the term new spring lamb is somewhat misleading as many are not ready until autumn. If you are buying lamb in the spring and it is being sold as new spring lamb it is often born at Christmas and fed cereals to be ready for spring.” It’s important to note here that this is not always the case but the majority of spring lamb. There are farmers that lamb in autumn and feed only grass through the winter, but it is best to ask your local sheep farmer or retailer for traceability. What's the age difference? < 1 year - new spring lamb 1-2 year old lamb - hogget 2+ year old - mutton 📍 Find Pasture for Life certified producers selling 100% pasture-fed lamb, hogget and mutton https://lnkd.in/edFzedqD #lamb #hogget #mutton #lambing #sheepfarmer

It’s National Cherry Day! An amazingly iconic piece of fruit you can find on clothing, phone cases, furniture and more. Despite the popularity, not many consumers understand the effort it takes to get these guys to stores! 🍒 We see our clients getting their crews into orchards before the sun comes up to avoid the damage caused by hot temperatures during harvest. Many operations also have drenching systems & invest in other efforts to keep fruit cool. Not to mention the fast pace of harvest in which labor can be hard to keep track of (we can help with that). All so consumers can have a fresh eating experience during the short cherry season! Hey farmers & farmworkers, we cherry-sh you 🫶 #cherryday #farmers #cherryharvest #FieldClock #labormanagement

As the nights get cooler, it’s important to protect those tender plants from an early frost! 🥶 Gardien Plant Protectors are perfect for keeping your plants safe during chilly nights. Cover peppers, herbs, and roses when temperatures drop below 40°F. This small step can extend your growing season and keep your harvest going! #GardienProducts #Gardien #witnergardenprep #gardeningtips

Know Your Farmer: From locally grown flowers, to honey, beeswax candles, and on farm experiences like Sip and Stroll and farm to table dinners featuring local Chefs - John and Angelica, owners of Five Blossoms Farm 💐, are creating community and building connections through the power of flowers. Adding experiences into your agriculture or small business marketing strategy is a powerful way to build community. This weekend, my husband and I are going to a Low Country Boil hosted by Five Blossoms Farm with Saltwater Market at their farm. Not only is this a fun way to switch up date night from the typical dinner at a restaurant, but it also gives us the chance to meet other people in our area who have similar interests. Building community is how farmers and Ag marketers can help ensure that the agriculture industry not only survives, but thrives. #ExperientialMarketing #SmallBusinessMarketing #FlowerFarm

Montana Has More Cows Than People. Why Are Locals Eating Beef From Brazil? “Making It Work” is a series is about small-business owners striving to endure hard times. While many people can conjure up romantic visions of a Montana ranch — vast valleys, cold streams, snow-capped mountains — few understand what happens when the cattle leave those pastures. Most of them, it turns out, don’t stay in Montana. https://lnkd.in/g-RBY5My
