Climate change is projected to cause up to 1 billion deaths by the century's end if global temperatures rise by 2°C. Health impacts, including cardiopulmonary diseases, vector-borne illnesses, and mental health issues, pose significant threats to Latin America and the Caribbean. Current policies are leading to nearly 3°C warming, exacerbating inequalities and disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. Despite over 2000 climate-related legal cases from 2017-2022, greater integration of health data in litigation is crucial. An Advisory Opinion from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, requested by Chile and Colombia, could clarify state responsibilities in addressing climate impacts on health. #ClimateHealthJustice #DataDrivenClimateAction #HumanRights https://lnkd.in/eMZzaTxk

Interesting data from the AAMC Center for Health Justice- The Center for Health Justice conducted a poll with a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults that asked their perspectives on the impact of #ClimateChange and actions that can be taken to address it. They found that most U.S. adults believe that climate change is a problem, that it will impact them and their families within their lifetime, and that the federal government is most responsible for reducing its impacts. Hispanic and Black adults express significantly higher concern about impacts on them and their families, compared with white adults. Future Generations carry the impact of the environments they live in, biologically, into their future health. ❓ WHO is listening? Reflecting on the modules on Children's Environmental Health, 💭 in the 2024, context; I note that vulnerable children in low to middle income populations globally, have triple exposure to: 🔺 the negative effects from their lived physical environment. (Trauma,Injury) 🔺 the stored impact within their bodies and increased risk of non communicable diseases. ( Cancers) 🔺 the evolving diseases of higher income populations. (Cardiovascular disease) War, famine ,grief, displacement are current for migrant children. Their future adult health is also at risk of being negatively impacted. Children are carrying the burden of war and climate change, 3 Fold! I ask: Where is the voice of the future generations being heard? What can we do to advocate for our future children? One action I choose is to support collective solutions for complex issues. I choose to execute my vote on June 7th in the; Local Elections 🌍 European Elections. 🗳 Ireland June 7th!
