Have you heard of #ClimateCafe? It is a relaxed, informal space for discussing climate change, sustainability, and environmental issues. It has a positive environment that welcomes everyone. Do you think climate cafes help find climate solutions. The Climate Cafe concept has been taken from the #DeathCafes - crafted by Swiss Sociologists Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid for having open #conversations about grief and sadness. For more details on these unique cafes, read our article. Don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments. https://lnkd.in/gvbJsbiy #climatechange #sustainability #environmentalissues #climatecafe #climateaction #climatesolutions

Thanks so much to Climate Psychology Alliance of North America to provide the following Climate Cafe workshop yesterday. Very insightful 💡 👉 How to Facilitate and Host a Climate Cafe: An Online, Experiential Workshop We learnt how to facilitate, organise and hold Climate Cafes ☕ I'd like to organise a kind of Climate Cafe for my virtual network, especially those working in environmental organisations as I believe there isn't enough space to talk about our climate emotions. I'd like to hold this space for us 💚 🔜 Starting September (hopefully), it will be my intention to hold Conscious Climate Conversations virtually for anyone who feels called to join a community to talk about our climate emotions we may be experiencing and have a safe space of sharing & listening. Especially those who are actively working in environmental organisations or volunteering their time for the cause. For anyone interested, please let me me know if you'd like to join as this is something I'd like to do for you so that we can come together as a community to talk about what's going on 🌍 🌎 🌏 #climateaction #climatehope #climatecommunity

We are delighted to announce Ed Gillespie will be our Climate Change and Sustainability Keynote Speaker for The SHE Show South. 🗓 Tuesday 9th July 2024 📍 DoubleTree by Hilton, MK Dons Stadium "Back by popular demand Ed Gillespie follows up on 2023’s hard-hitting ‘big picture’ provocation on climate change with an inspirational ‘how to’ plan for effective climate action and decarbonisation. We all ‘get’ the climate challenge, the difficult bit is how to build a practical, hands-on response. This talk, developed exclusively for The SHE Show, will take the audience on an entertaining journey through the key things, opportunities and pitfalls every organisation should seek to achieve, or avoid, on their climate change journey to Net Zero. Key takeaways include: – Where to begin? So much climate action falls at the first hurdle because the scale and urgency of the challenge can feel overwhelming. So we’ll break it down into some simple, straightforward and specific practical actions. – Who’s leading? Pioneering and inspirational examples of climate action are all around us, you’ll get an authentic sense of who the truly radical actors are, as well as the unsung heroes doing great work beyond day-to-day recognition. – Here comes everyone! Climate action is a team sport, that involves a whole organisation from the shopfloor to the Boardroom. Get insights into how to build a coherent and creative plan that really works." I've always had so much respect for people who can speak, and stay true to, their values from the very heart of the Establishment. Like many wise people, John Gummer's truth is utterly simple and persuasive. This speech is well worth 20 minutes of your time, particularly if you haven't heard him speak before. #Sustainability #PositiveImpact #ClimateCrisis

On November 4, John Gummer, Rt Hon The Lord Deben held the room of our #FutureIconsPowerPeople at MANDARIN ORIENTAL HYDE PARK LIMITED in wrapt attention as he delivered a speech that engaged, impassioned and communicated so brilliantly about the climate crisis – where we've been, and where we need to go. I've been asked by many to share it here, so please see both a transcript and a video in full in the link below. Top takeaways: 1. It starts with the soil. "it is the soil that matters. It is the soil which really has to be looked after. And revered." 2. The language of the climate crisis needs to be told in ways that people can relate to. He cited a story about the bumblebee, which thanks to rises in temperature, is losing its sense of smell, and therefore cannot find the flowers which to pollinate... "Now I tell this story all the time because it touches everybody. Everybody knows about bumblebees. They all like bumblebees. And to remove its sense of smell is a terrible thing to do to those little insects which live only for one year." 3. If joy isn't part of this journey we will lose. "If we tell people that the whole business is about making them colder, unable to travel, more miserable, then they’ll say bugger off. And perfectly rightly, because we are not in that business." 4. Be tougher on our enemies. "Exxon Mobil knows exactly what they're doing." 5. And, finally, we're all in this together. "You have no right to look your grandchildren in the eyes unless you can say: 'I did everything possible to protect this world so you would have something better than I inherited.'" Unpopular Opinion: We are real culprits when it comes to climate change! Yes, the recent IT boom has led to lifestyle changes, which is harming the environment. I am not against breaks and rejuvenating yourselves. But what's a break when you have to hassle through thousands of souls? Yes, if a crowded place makes your break worth it, go to a bustling local market. Comment below if you think we are the worst regarding preservation or destination sanctity. #corporatelife #weekends #trekking #climatechange #itboom

Speaking from my own experience, eco-anxiety can be isolating and difficult to face. Grass-root climate cafes and forest bathing suggestions within this article are wonderful ways to bring attention to individual's growing concerns. https://lnkd.in/gm35YBHG
