It's crazy how much things have changed for UK resident doctors over the last few years (aside from the name!) 🤯 Locum work hasn't completely dried up, but there are far fewer shifts across most specialties/locations. 📉 Both the availability of work and pay rates have reduced. At the same time, competition for most training programmes has also significantly increased. 📈 This is for many reasons, including a reduction in locum work. Traditionally under-subscribed specialties like GP, Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine are now actually competitive. This situation can be unsettling, especially for those who aren't yet sure what they want to do. 🤷♂️ It's more important than ever that medics fully appreciate and understand all of their options. This is why we're building an online marketplace just for healthcare workers. 🛒 We're working with multiple recruitment and locum agencies to bring all your work options together in one place. Like Rightmove or Just Eat. But for jobs! Launching in January - follow Monitree for updates. 🙂

Why do businesses and healthcare professionals/facilities AUTOMATICALLY deny a Deaf person the right to accessible means of communication when asking for an ASL interpreter? Using written methods does not work especially for people who are paralyzed or have hand dexterity issues. You would think they would want their patient to have the best care and understand what is going on with them as well as effective communication. It infuriates me that in today’s time, awareness, compassion, education along with technology it should NEVER be an issue. This is CONSTANT trauma, PTSD, anxiety, fear, struggles and stress for a Deaf person when seeking medical care. This includes dentist appointments, eye doctor appointments, procedures, specialist appointments, lab work, hospitalization, surgery, etc. Most insurance companies including Medicare & Medicaid pay for interpreters.
