For the fourth year in a row, we celebrated “truck driver’s day" by FEBETRA, Transport en Logistiek Vlaanderen and UPTR! This edition, we treated the drivers to a delicious warm Belgian waffle. 🧇 At our Noordzee and Europa Terminal, we also showed the truck drivers our new video (https://bit.ly/4gwl7Vp 🔗) about the digital A-check that we introduced recently. A significant step in our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and efficiency for truck drivers visiting a PSA Antwerp terminal. 𝔾𝕠 𝕃𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝔻𝕚𝕘𝕚𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕋𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥 Today we celebrate the succesful go live of our new digital transport process. After an extensive period of workshops, development and a pilot phase, we can now say that we are live. At the moment, over 300 stops a day get handled via the driver app, which is in use by around 30 drivers from 4 hubs. These numbers double by next week, by onboarding the former Riwal-hubs in the Netherlands and will grow further with the start of the European rollout in Belgium, Germany and Poland before the end of 2024. In 2025, we'll continue the European rollout, while adding more functionalities for our drivers, planners and customers to the digital transport process. Drivers of ride-hailing services can be registered to drive on more than one platform. This is so that they can pick the one that suits them the best. In 2025, there will be 7 platforms to sign up with as 2 new ones have been given a one-year provisional licence for them to find their legs. (See the report on The Straits Times here> https://lnkd.in/gUaUn2gT) Does this improve the state of play in the sense that 1) more drivers work more often and boost the supply of rides? 2) What are the platforms doing to differentiate one from another? On the user end, it is not uncommon for passengers to fire up multiple apps concurrently to shop for the quickest or cheapest ride, just as drivers will pick among the platforms for the best trips, whether in terms of convenience or earnings. Crucially, no one knows the full picture on the take-up rate of these platforms when it comes to number of drivers, fares and rides. We don't even know how good or bad the supply of ride-hailing cars are during peak hours. I think more transparency will do us good here. Pic of a taxi in Hong Kong from Reddit.
