And we must nurture urban forests for minimum 3-6 years. Our Students of schools and Universities Youth can be easily motivated for this urgency. Yesterday in a medical clinic, alongwith me there was a youth who had brought his grandmother for treatment , was working continuously on his #Laptop . All these YOUTH of I.T companies should be put in as a parallel to their job in Forests on weekends. MAKING of Urban FORESTS will give us OXYGEN in abundance and a #Stress-free Life. Unknowingly we are moving towards a healthy tomorrow. These healthy Citizens can double up the #GDP of Bharatwarsh in next 2-3 years. Our groundWater table of #mother #Earth will increase substantially.

What does Place Based Education linked to solving real life environment issues look like in India? Here is a picture from 2014 - school kids conducting a water test belonging to Assam Govt schools. Prior to this, with the help of ecological NGOs - Eco- Concept in Assam and DRCSC, West Bengal, and the public health department - School students (VI onward) from 109 number of villages collected and tested 796 drinking water samples in their school labs. The public health department, Government of Assam provided the necessary kits and chemicals and the results were shared with villagers and common public. At that time, the plan was to explore locally available solutions to combat high fluoride content. Such as growing certain vegetables which can counter against fluoride intake. Am not sure if that happened. #placebasededucation #NaiTalim #environmenteducation

💦🚰 Eight in ten people who lack basic drinking water services live in #rural areas. But even in the most remote areas of the world, clean and safe water can be within reach — with the right solutions. As is too often case, women are disproportionately affected. Some suffer gynaecological problems due to the dirty water, while the social stigma of using the lavatory in broad daylight means young women are forced to wait until sundown to relieve themselves. Over 60 million Indians could be at risk of fluorosis, with school-age children being the most vulnerable. UNICEF estimates that 600 million children around the world still lack safely managed drinking water. In India, around 37.7 million people are estimated to be affectedby waterborne diseases annually, while 1.5 million children die of diarrhoea and 73 million working days are lost due to waterborne diseases every year. In a small village school in Rajasthan, India, 12-year-old Priya winces as she sips water from the school's hand pump. Less than half of the population are using safely managed drinking water, while two-thirds of rural and two-fifths of urban households still face electricity outages every day at least. In regions where temperatures regularly exceed 40°C (104°F) during summer, poorly ventilated classrooms become health hazards. Rajasthan is among the largest states in India and more than 70% of its districts are impacted by fluorosis. Recently, In Kota, Rajasthan, three government schools have already installed solar power plants providing a total of 4.5 kilowatts of power, as well as water purification systems that provide 250 litres of clean water per day. As a result of this, more than 2,000 students at these schools now have access to clean drinking water and uninterrupted power. #WorldWaterDay | Can we imagine a life where fetching water consumes more than half of our day? For the women of the remote villages of Bikaner, Rajasthan, this is a reality. As the groundwork by Charkha's network of rural writers in Rajasthan informs us, the young girls and women of these villages bear the brunt of water shortage, dedicating their days to collecting water, leaving little time for education or personal pursuits. Water scarcity isn't merely an environmental issue; it's a social and gendered problem intertwined with access to education and basic amenities. In these villages, traditional gender roles exacerbate the burden of water scarcity on women, relegating them to the role of primary water gatherers while compromising their educational opportunities and personal development. To truly address water scarcity in rural Rajasthan, solutions must go beyond infrastructure development to tackle the underlying gender inequalities and lack of access to education. Empowering women to participate in decision-making processes and providing them with the resources they need to thrive are essential steps towards creating sustainable change. Only then can we ensure that no woman is left behind, burdened by water scarcity and denied the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their communities. On this #WorldWaterDay, let's amplify their voices and raise awareness about their struggles to support sustainable development in these marginalised communities because can we imagine a village's progress where girls are struggling to get water carrying pitchers and pots on their heads instead of school bags? #WaterCrisis #SaveWater #WaterForAll #SustainableWater #WaterConservation #CommunityAction #WaterJustice #EveryDropCounts #WaterAwareness #EmpowerCommunities Jaljeevan_Mission India Water Foundation Water For People Water.org
