Another Conveyor fire with major material losses, How to prevent them: 1- Start with fire prevention during design phase by failure prevention of the mechanical components. Here you need reliability consultants. 2- Apply fire detection systems using Thermal indicators. Look at using fire proof conveyor belts. 3- Apply a strict monitoring regime with Vibration monitoring, Thermal imaging twice-monthly for the mechanical conveyor components Roller Idlers, Drive Rollers, Gearboxes, Motors. Some users also apply Ultrasound. 4- When purchasing bearings only purchase high quality country of Origin bearings[ Europe, USA, Japan] not low cost bearings, they will fail early and are non-consistant in lifetime. 5- Lubrication: Grease quality and oil quality should be the best available in market. NTPC Talcher, Odisha In its statement, NTPC officials informed that the fire was reported on date 06 April 2024 at around 8:10 am at the conveyor belt 15 A and B along with at coal transfer point 16 located between Unit 2 and 3. The fire was quickly responded by CISF Fire Wing and Plant Disaster team and doused fully. Initial reports indicate that the fire erupted on the conveyor belt of the plant in the Talcher area, although the exact cause remains unclear. It indicates that incidents are not limited to process plant only, a huge amount of inventory storage, transportion, and management areas are highly pronr for fire or explosion or catastrophic failure which require proper hazards and risk assessment and mitigation process is very vital. At least 50 people, mostly children, received burn injuries in a major blast at a liquid petroleum gas cylinder filling shop in Hyderabad’s Preetabad area on Thursday, health officials said. Cylinder blasts incidends have increased in recent years nationwide, as there is an increased demand of LPG cylinders in household and commercial use, due to natural gas shortages, here are some simple tips to avoid such incidents. HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR COOKING GAS CYLINDER HAS EXPIRED 🗼Do you know that cooking gas cylinders have expiry date. 🗼A gas cylinder that is used beyond the expiry date invites hazard and should be returned to the distributor. 🗼Understanding the expiry date is important than the gas inside. 🗼Consumers should always check the expiry date of a gas cylinder before refilling. 🗼Consumers, should not use expired cooking gas cylinder. 🗼Before you buy any cooking gas cylinder, always check for the production and expiry date. 🗼Expired cooking gas cylinder are not safe to use, so please be careful. 🗼Each cylinder comes with 3 vertical stay plates (side stems) near its head. One of the side stem plates carries some alpha numeric code which is the expiry date of that particular gas cylinder HOW TO DECODE THE EXPIRY DATE The expiry date of the cooking gas cylinder is coded with alphabetical order, A B,C D, in quarters, which stands for months it will expire, while the numeric code stands for the year it will expire. 🅰️Letter A stands for January to March. 🅱️Letter B stands for April to June. 🧡Letter C stands for July to September. 🧡Letter D stands for October to December For example, if the vertical stay plate carries the expiry date of B -9, it means that, the cooking gas cylinder will expire on June 2009, and if it is written C -16, it means that it will expire on September 2016. We were highlighting this issue of newly established buainess in Sindh of LPG Decanting Shops because of shortfall of Narural Gas in Sindh. These LPG shops are against OGRA rules opening in residential areas mostly at basments of residencial buildings amd More Dangerous is they selling open gas via decanting from big cylinders to small cylinders which is not allowed amyway by OGRA This one seems the begining as the shops open in last year seems many more sad incidents we has to experiwnce if Sindh Goverment, OGRA and specially Oil Marketing Companies not take immediate action against illegal LPG decanting
