EuRIC plastics recyclers publish roadmap for industry competitiveness and innovation EuRIC’s Plastics Recycling Branch (EPRB) has published a roadmap on the future of the European plastics recycling industry, as the latter is currently grappling with extremely low demand for recycled materials and with unfair competition from third countries that threaten circularity in Europe. https://lnkd.in/dCJTUc6G

With a horde of over 8,000 MEPs, https://lnkd.in/daMeBirQit should be quick and easy. 19 MEPs per million inhabitants compared to 2 in China and 1.6 in the USA. If the sector is not protected quickly, many companies could disappear. #packagingeurope

Many thanks to Plastics Recyclers Europe for inviting DeepView4P to the annual meeting held in Cascais, where I had the opportunity to present 'How the Perfect Storm is Reshaping the Plastics Industry' and 'Polystyrene Market Risks & Opportunities,' as well as attend many other highly interesting presentations. Here is my summary of the two-day event: 👉 Over the past few years, European recyclers have expanded their production capacities to meet growing demand. 👉 However, Europe faces very high energy, environmental, bureaucratic, and tax costs, which place it at a competitive disadvantage compared to other regions of the world. 👉 Operating at a disadvantage in a free global market is highly risky, as significant quantities of recycled products from other countries are starting to enter the market. European recyclers are beginning to face serious financial difficulties ➡️ If the European Commission does not urgently protect this industry, we could face significant challenges in transitioning to a #circulareconomy #plasticsrecycling #plastics

Orlando Florida, The NPE Plastics Show. It's huge! Did you know at least 50% of the world's plastic production is for 'single use'? Did you know that at least one third of all plastic produced has been produced in the last 10 years? I'm working with the Global Commercial Team with Patty Mishic O'Brien and Fernando Barrientos (in absentia) this week crafting a skilful team to make the amazing UBQ Materials available to the world's plastics manufacturers. UBQ Material is made from domestic household waste: 70 - 80 million tons annually goes into landfill in the US alone! The first large plant in the Netherlands will be taking household waste there (which otherwise would have gone into incineration and making a recyclable plastic - a high quality substitute for petrochemical based plastics. It's economically competitive and being eyed with interest by Mercedes Benz and Pepsicola I'm told. Come and meet the team on stand S18027! Or connect with any of the senior team Albert Douer, Jack (Tato) Bigio, Patty Mishic O'Brien #wastedisposal #circularity #sustainablewastemanagement #innovationleadership
