🌟🎄 Deck the Halls with Appreciation! 🎄🌟 This Christmas season, we want to highlight some of the wonderful team members we have here at Pikeville Medical Center! ✨ Today, we are shining our spotlight on our Guest Communications department!. Here's what their manager had to say about all of the wonderful work they have put in this year: "We run 24/7 and always have someone here to answer calls, codes or panels. We assist other departments with extensions and transfers of internal calls, as well. We also look up appointments for patients and provide directions for them when the scheduling department isn't available. We always help in any way we can. Teamwork!" We want to express our heartfelt thanks for your incredible contributions. Let's give our Guest Communications department a big round of applause in the comments!🎄🌟

Speak Up Month in October is an opportunity to raise awareness of how much we value speaking up in our organisation. We see Freedom to Speak Up as fundamental to how we work and we want to be part of making speaking up business as usual across healthcare. Your Voice Matters - regardless of your background, position, or circumstances. By speaking up, you can help us learn and improve. By listening up, we can make sure we understand what needs to change. By following up we can ensure that our learning leads to action and make speaking up business as usual. Let’s use this opportunity to speak up, listen up and follow up, whether that be: connecting with colleagues, inviting your Freedom to Speak Up Guardian to a team meeting, or sharing something getting in the way of you doing a great job. https://lnkd.in/ecrBqQGp

How do you prepare for a panel discussion? Do you even bother?? Only performative, self-serving LinkedIn-worthy answers please. No, really...I am genuinely interested in what others do. What I usually find is that some seem to wave off the notion that they have prepared only to show up & deliver (while having earnestly prepped). Others feign preparedness while being visibly unprepared or even overwhelmed up on stage. [insert stammered dry-mouth noises] But, you can usually spot the people who think it's OK to just turn up and just – wrinkling nose as I type here – wing it. And I say "usually" because some can mask it with faux confidence that is unmasked the moment you reflect on the panel and can't think of anything useful or at least interesting that they said. Respect your audience. Appreciate the opportunity. Communicate with conviction. Preparation is paramount. Prepare. Prepare again. Then road test it with a colleague, friend, your dog (anyone’s dog will do, but never a cat) or the unforgiving lens on your phone. Even if it’s just using key points on a sticky note like all that was required by an amazing logistics CEO and smartest person I’ve ever shared space with... The European Association of Communication Directors (EACD) held a truly worthwhile gathering of comms and advocacy pros this week. Having been focused on a global role, I openly admitted to the room how embarrassed I was to have never attended one of these previously. It was also not difficult to credit Lisa McCooey with an expression she used at the crisis comms tabletop exercise from the day before that was too good not to use. So I’ll be there next year for sure. And if there is a panel half as interesting as the one this week, I’ll be up there. Prepared. Loved every minute of it Laura Gutierrez, Hendrik Hagemann & Tereza Urbankova, M.A. - special hat tip to MCI Brussels for helping deliver a super two-day gig. [And yes, as the picture from the other perspective shows, I had notes to be sure to remember some responses to anticipated topic areas from the on-top-of-it moderator Steffen Thejll-Moller rather than make quips to the bathroom mirror the next day wishing they had come out on the panel.]

I'm excited (truthfully nervous) to be speaking at the annual PRSA Tri-State District conference titled "Surviving Strategic Shifts: The Modern Era of PR" Honored to collaborate with Brandi Boatner and her team putting this event together. I'll be on stage talking about #PRmeasurement. And the reason why l'm nervous is because in 2024 we have so many tools, so much data, so many webinars and white papers talking about best practices, yet somehow people are still struggling. So l ask you Linkedin people.... what is the struggle with Measurement in PR for you? What do you think I need to share? What questions should I try to answer? If you're in the #NYC area this week, and want to heckle me on Thursday (May 2), get your tickets here. https://lnkd.in/dqyuXPXx
