I recently came across this Fortune article that states about 85% of HR professionals emphasize the growing importance of coaching skills for business leaders (based off a recent report from DDI). Despite this, many leaders feel they aren’t receiving enough coaching, and a significant number of frontline leaders are seeking more guidance. Consider this, companies with effective coaching practices are more successful in engaging and retaining top talent. Additionally, high-potential employees—those who are ready to grow rapidly—are twice as likely to leave if they lack effective coaching. How do you overcome these challenges? There are numerous places to start and, frankly, it really is dependent on your unique organization. Having served over 240 clients at Stewart Leadership, I can tell you that no two organizations are alike. Our approach is this: We partner with you to design a tailored solution that meets your specific needs; incorporating assessments, coaching, training, consulting, and on-going support so you, your leaders, and your organization can inspire confidence and have a greater positive impact. If you'd like to explore how we can support your organization, feel free to reach out. I'm always available for a conversation, whether it’s a quick question or a deeper discussion. We are asking more than ever of our leaders. Success today requires more than a good strategy and a well-developed execution plan. It requires leaders to think and act in new ways: to learn, anticipate, and adapt. Today’s leaders need to be generative—able to increase the value they deliver for their people, customers, partners, investors, communities, and themselves. Common mistakes executive coaches make can hinder the effectiveness of coaching engagements. These include: - Overemphasizing theory over practical applications tailored to the executive's context. - Applying a generic approach instead of personalizing strategies to meet each executive's unique needs. - Failing to actively listen and understand the executive's perspective, resulting in misalignment. - Overlooking the cultural nuances of the executive's organization, impacting coaching relevance. - Providing inadequate follow-up and support, hindering executive progress. - Overloading clients with excessive information or tasks, reducing effectiveness. - Neglecting emotional intelligence crucial for effective leadership development. - Not setting clear, measurable goals and tracking progress, hindering evaluation. - Underestimating resistance to change, impeding growth and strategy implementation. - Poor management of confidentiality, damaging trust in the coaching relationship. Avoiding these pitfalls can enhance the impact and success of executive coaching. #ExecutiveCoaching #LeadershipDevelopment #CoachingMistakes

Investing in coaching based on your organization’s highest strategic priorities will catapult your organization and your people forward. It is instrumental to ensure that the team of coaches working in an organization know how their work interfaces with strategic priorities. Through this detailed alignment, the coaching team can help leaders draw connections between their own professional development and what’s happening in the organization. So what are the specific steps you can take to align your coaching engagements with your strategy? A) Engage your organization's highest level leaders in linking the strategic plan to specific behaviors and mindsets they would like to see in the generation of leaders. B) Brief all your coaches on the organization's strategy and how coaching fits into it. C) Provide your organization's strategy to the coach and the client during a three-way meeting. Share how the client contributes to the strategy and how they might enhance that through coaching.

*Unlocking Potential: The Art and Science of Organizational Transformation Through Coaching Embarking on the journey of organizational transformation requires a strategic blend of vision, insight, and execution. In my work with clients in leadership development and coaching, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact that coaching in particular can have on organizational success. Today, I invite you to explore how coaching can drive meaningful change across all levels of an organization and can support your strategic agenda. *Navigating Change: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities In an era characterized by rapid change and disruption, organizations must embrace change as an opportunity for growth and innovation. By instilling a growth mindset, fostering resilience, and cultivating a bias for action, coaching enables organizations to navigate change with confidence and harness adversity as a catalyst for transformational growth. *Embracing the Coaching Advantage: A Strategic Imperative for Organizational Success The traditional approach to coaching, which the majority of organizations today are using, involves developing individuals across the organization separately and on an ad-hoc basis. While beneficial for personal growth and performance, its impact typically remains limited to individual capacities. In contrast, the transformational application of coaching, focuses on coaching leaders and leadership ecosystems collectively. This approach drives systemic shifts by fostering collaboration, aligning strategies, and cultivating a culture of continuous learning. By addressing root causes and systemic barriers, it ensures sustainable change throughout the organization. The strategic alignment of coaching interventions with organizational goals maximizes its impact on business outcomes. Additionally, by nurturing collaborative leadership and fostering a culture of innovation, it cultivates a pipeline of capable leaders equipped to navigate complex challenges. *A Strategic Imperative for Organizational Success In conclusion, transformational application of coaching transcends the realm of individual development to emerge as a strategic imperative for organizational success. Harnessing the transformative power of coaching can propel our organizations forward on a journey of growth, innovation and sustainable success. Just finished the course “Coaching Skills for Leaders and Managers” by Sara Canaday! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gmGtt3cP #peopledevelopment #coachingmentoring #careerdevelopmentcoaching. In this course, Sara Canaday underscores that coaching is a crucial leadership skill for organizational growth. Leaders use coaching to improve employee performance, foster career development, and enhance productivity. Coaching involves guiding employees, asking key questions, and building trustful relationships. The five key skills for leaders include performance improvement, development, relationship building, asking questions, and discernment. Effective coaching leads to improved skills, job satisfaction, and loyalty, benefiting both individuals and the organization. Common coaching challenges, such as time constraints and resistance from employees, can be overcome by prioritizing coaching, learning key skills, and staying present. Canaday introduces the GROW model Goal, Reality, Options, and Will to structure coaching conversations and help employees set and achieve goals. She stresses that active listening, patience, and clear communication are essential for effective coaching. Feedback in coaching should be specific, timely, and purposeful, focusing on observable behaviors and employee growth. Goal setting should involve employees in the process, aligning personal goals with organizational objectives while remaining flexible to changes. Canaday concludes that coaching enhances organizational success by developing employee skills, building relationships, and improving performance, giving companies a competitive edge.
