🔍 In an informative session at #ICIC2024, experts shared their knowledge about how to evaluate the impact of integrated care programs. Professor Professor Robin Miller highlighted the disparity between published work on research and theory on the one hand, and implementation and economic evaluation of integrated care programs on the other hand. 🎯 The importance of conversations and collaborations with users during the development, evaluation and implementation of an integrated care program was a prominent theme in general at #ICIC2024. Additionally, there was a shared acknowledgment of the complexities involved in conducting an evaluation of complex programs. 👌At PANAXEA, we will incorporate the lessons learned during #ICIC2024 in our work on the evaluation of complex programs to transform healthcare, including our ongoing work as part of Laurel - Actionable policies for integrated long-term care.

The FSHD Society are pioneers in how patient organizations can lead the way to accelerate new clinical development and to proactively ensure patients get access new drugs when they get market approval. One of their visions just a year ago was to create a commercial LLC entity under their society to provide end-to-end services and technology to launch clinical trials faster and have the real-world data generation infrastructure in place to support Phase 1 to post marketing needs. Lumiio Inc. is proud to be the exclusive partner for the BetterLife health data platform technology, registries, digital tool development, and site optimization. See the article below for more details on this novel and innovative approach.
"One of the primary goals of the Hub is to proactively support existing patient registries and establish new ones such that the data required (e.g., quality of life, activities of daily living, etc.) for a Health Technology Assessment are being generated so patients can access these new therapies as quickly as possible." Reflecting on another great Infoway Partnership Conference, where so many insightful discussions took place. A key theme was the critical importance of collaboration—among public and private organizations, governments, and, most importantly, patients. The momentum around digital health initiatives was truly energizing, particularly in areas like patient summaries and the development of standards to facilitate sharing health data. Success stories from across the country—Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and more—were motivating. One standout example came from Hamilton Health Sciences, a recipient of a Connected Care Innovation grant. Their pilot project involves using large language models (LLMs) to transform unstructured EMR data, such as clinical notes, into FHIR resources aligned with Canadian patient summary standards. Exciting progress like this showcases the potential of innovation in moving towards Connected Care. Looking forward to seeing how these initiatives continue to evolve! #ThinkDigitalHealth
