I'm just on my way north from Washington DC after a very insightful two day workshop at the Bezos Earth Fund on how we can trigger positive tipping points: get societal transitions toward a sustainable economy past the critical threshold after which they become unstoppable and self-propelling. More on this later: it's worth a separate post. But what I can say for now is that I am heading into the madness that will be New York Climate Week with a feeling of renewed energy. I believe we can trigger positive tipping points: there are decades of science and lived experience to show the way. And though a lot of people may disparage the global event circuit of which NYCW is part as a vacuous parade of talk and egos, I truly believe that these moments of convening are allowing us to form the social infrastructure and trust critical to triggering the positive tipping points we need.
