Interesting post!
Interesting piece by Taylor Swaak about how AI is interacting with higher ed. This article discusses some of the complications taking place in higher ed institutions with AI. For example, Swaak brings up that " AI and GenAI technologies are maturing rapidly, while colleges are historically slow to evolve." While I think that the points made in this piece are important, they did leave out one use case of AI in higher ed that I find is highly important: Improving accessibility. Personally, I believe AI could be a helpful tool for students with disabilities or different learning styles. What do you think? #HigherEd #AIIntegration #AccessibleEducation

The question “How is #HigherEducation handling #AI?” is common in 2024, and for good reason. Most professions and industries are grappling with the impact of artificial intelligence and automation, which has recently accelerated with generative AI through ChatGPT and other tools that have brought AI to the masses. This topic is nuanced with implications both philosophical (how are students using it?) and ethical (will this technology exacerbate equity gaps?). But higher education can’t avoid evolving along with new technology. Those like Dakota State University President Jose-Marie Griffiths say it well: “We lean into every technology because that’s our role: to prepare our students not for today’s technology … but for tomorrow’s technology.” The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Taylor Swaak delves into how colleges are—or aren’t—approaching AI.
