The Kingdom of Bahrain, an archipelago in the Arabian Gulf, has a history dating back thousands of years. It was home to the ancient Dilmun civilization, a significant trading hub connecting Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley around 2000 BCE. Over centuries, Bahrain was ruled by various empires, including the Babylonians, Persians, and Arabs. In the 7th century CE, Islam was introduced, shaping the region’s culture and society. The Al Khalifa family established their rule in 1783 after expelling Persian forces, and Bahrain became a British protectorate in the 19th century. It gained full independence in 1971 and was declared a kingdom in 2002. Today, Bahrain is known for its strategic location, rich history, and modern economy.

Qatar's Hamad Port continues to excel as a key transshipment hub in the GCC, achieving 23% growth in transshipments from January to November 2024.
