September is College Savings Month! College Savings Accounts (CSAs) give young people and their caregivers the confidence that they can afford at least some of the expenses. CSAs also give kids hope that college is possible. Studies show that low-income children with small amounts of college savings are 3x more likely to go to college and 4x more likely to graduate. This College Savings Month, let's unite our schools, businesses, banks, #funders, community organizations, and more to show young people that we support their educational goals and dreams. Imagine embarking on your college journey or stepping into the workforce without a laptop to call your own. For many under-resourced students, this is not just a thought experiment – it's their reality. At the end of the school year, they return their laptops to their high schools, only to find themselves navigating college coursework, job applications, and self-sufficiency without access to a crucial tool. Every gift of $250+ puts a laptop into the hands of a graduating senior. You can make a difference in closing the #digitaldivide.
🎓Gifts4Grads🎓 Did you know that 31% of graduating high school seniors do not own a personal computer? That’s 1.6 million students out of the 3.9 million graduating high school seniors without the tools they need to succeed in their future. But you can make a difference in the #digitaldivide! From now until June 7, Compudopt is raising dollars for #Gifts4Grads. When you donate you: 💻 Gift access to education by providing a laptop to a student entering higher education 💻 Gift career opportunities by providing a laptop to young adults applying for jobs and taking online job certification courses 💻 Empower the next generation by giving them the tools to be autonomous and independent adults. Are short-term credentials really more affordable? The Education Trust, a nonprofit policy and advocacy organization, explored that question in a recent report. The authors looked at how much it actually costs students to participate in these programs, including living expenses like room and board, books, technology, and transportation. They found that costs varied widely among different types of credentials. https://lnkd.in/eQm-2Qqy

🎺 A New Tool for Calculating College Degree ROI... Come on, I run a financial planning company...absolutely you should factor in the ROI of college expenses as another screening filter before you commit. You can't JUST save for it! Today, the vast majority of parents expect their children’s college experience to ultimately end up generating a good-paying job. 🙏 It’s the same story with college grads who want to advance their careers by obtaining a graduate or professional degree. In pursuing this goal, steps taken before individuals even attend their first class can set them up for successfully meeting this professional goal or alternatively failing miserably. ✔ or ❌ The choice could mean earning hundreds of thousands of dollars or far more over a graduate’s career. With that in mind, any parents exploring undergraduate majors and schools or older individuals considering a graduate or professional degree should use an invaluable NEW tool that allows users to search more than 40,000 undergraduate degree programs and 10,000 graduate programs for the estimated return on investment over a career. The best part...it's FREE! Enjoy! -Justin https://freopp.org/

Research shows a college degree can be the key to financial security. However, the path to college is not easy, especially for first-gen and low-income students who often face unique barriers to accessing #HigherEd. Through research, policy work, and direct supports like mentorships and career prep, Tipping Point and our grantees are helping students make their college dreams a reality. Last year, 95% of high school graduates in grantee programs enrolled in college. See more of our 2023 impact: https://lnkd.in/grdSZxrs #education #university #college #nonprofit #impact

#DamProudDay. Donate to the College of Health Student Success Fund! Although community-based learning experiences, internships and mentorships are essential for career preparation, they often come with financial hurdles. Students may need to take time off from paid work, relocate temporarily or cover additional expenses such as travel, housing and daily living costs. The College of Health Student Success Fund addresses these challenges by providing scholarships and stipends, ensuring financial barriers don't prevent students from pursuing these valuable opportunities. https://lnkd.in/gMiZ3MMk
