The government called it a ghetto. They called it home. Meet residents of Mjølnerparken in Denmark, where hundreds have been forced to leave their homes as the result of race-based government policies aimed at eradicating so-called “parallel societies.” https://osf.to/3VbU613

Grassroots movements are uniquely positioned to influence climate-related policy. Take a look at these examples from CLIMA Fund to see how movements from Guatemala to Fiji have restored traditional land rights, influenced food and mobility policies, and pushed for the ratification of treaties and establishment protected areas: https://lnkd.in/eu2spHNu

The Labour Party manifesto has been published and ISR Research Fellow, Dr Alison Fairbrass, commented: ‘The Labour Party have made several commitments to ‘deliver for nature’, including references to tree planting, creating new woodlands, and expanding habitats. However, they don't mention protecting our existing nature, which is more important considering that existing habitats are more ecologically valuable. Furthermore, their approach to prioritising the development of brownfield land potentially threatens valuable biodiversity and habitats (https://lnkd.in/eidd_zXT). Brownfield sites are often located in urban areas, and focusing development on brownfield sites will threaten nature in cities, exacerbating existing inequalities in access to nature between urban and rural communities.’ Read the Labour party manifesto: https://lnkd.in/e9CjYsHb

The #Draghireport is right: The #EU needs to act now, with resolve, focus and ambition to capture parts of the markets of the future. For too long, we’ve occupied ourselves with navel gazing and petty nationalist squabbles. It’s time to stand together as a united Europe to protect our values and interests - or divided get lost into meaninglessness. For too long, conservatives and liberals have been busy protecting power and wealth of special interests. It’s time they recognize the unstoppable power of future - clean - technologies and help channel capital and law behind them. For too long, the Greens and leftist parties have debated over incremental, domestic solutions to non-problems (re-usable coffee cups anyone?) and fighting the “the system” without feasible answers for either solution nor transition, instead of looking at major levers. It’s time they strike alliance to boost the clean transition, big time!
