Advocacy can mean so much. This year's #WHM2024 theme is pointed and purposeful in urging us to think deeper about how we advocate for ourselves and women in the industry. Our latest leadership letter addresses the power of advocacy and how it remains at the core of WTS's work. https://lnkd.in/eT6JGbWv

Thank you Meredith C. Moore for inviting us to this year’s luncheon & for literally bringing us to the table to support the The Atlanta Women's Foundation & the much needed services they provide to women and girls in Atlanta. Since 1998, they have invested over $27 million in Atlanta across Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties. Incredible turnout of around 1,700 people and congratulations on raising around $300,000 in 10 mins. Here are some statistics that were shared that highlight the importance of this work: 1️⃣Less than 2% of total US charitable giving goes to organizations serving women and girls. 2️⃣Women and girls are twice as likely to experience mental health issues, a number that only increases for those living in poverty. 3️⃣The percentage of high school girls who have seriously considered attempting suicide rose from 24.1% to 30% in recent years. 4️⃣17% of women 18 years and older live in poverty. 5️⃣Women make up nearly two-thirds of the 40 lowest-paying jobs. 6️⃣The largest demographic living in poverty are women ages 25 to 34, followed by those 18 to 24, and then 35 to 44. 7️⃣Nearly 80,000 girls live in poverty in Metro Atlanta. This is some of what the foundation has been able to achieve: 1️⃣12,000 women have gained access to employment opportunities. 2️⃣1,200 women have received childcare scholarships. 3️⃣Over 20,000 women have accessed critical mental health services. Last week, we had the pleasure of presenting to Cedar Valley Women Connect on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives. If this is something you struggle with, we invite you to do this exercise: Make a list of your values. (These values are the guiding principles with which we strive to live our lives.) Then, after you list out your values, reflect back on the last week. Where have you said yes to something outside of your values? Being aware of our "yes's" and if they are in alignment with our values or not will give us a clearer picture of where we could be out of balance. The question then becomes - Why am I saying yes to something that doesn't align with my values? And that is where we can grow and learn a lot as leaders and as important members of our families to create a better trajectory forward. - Nick Kuhle & Kayla Becker
Grateful to have been given the opportunity to host our local chapter of Women Lead Change, Cedar Valley Women Connect, this morning. Attendees were joined by Kyla & Nick from Greener Shepherd who presented on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives, which is a lesson we can all benefit from!

I come from an industry that is predominantly powered by #women However, even today, most industries are dominated by men. In 2022, #data collected from the International Labour Organization concluded that, out of 180 countries - the #unitedstates ranks number 71 for % of women in the workforce. The percentage of women in the #workforce in the U.S is 46.38% Women remain #underrepresented at all levels, in most industries. However, know that when you call 9-1-1 it’s likely that the #hero under the headset is a #strong , #brave , #courageous #female According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report in 2021 - 74% if 911 operators are women. “People need to see leaders who look like themselves, to understand that it’s possible for them.” Happy #womenshistorymonth #womenempowerment #womenchangemakers #genderequality #911dispatch #911dispatcher #dispatchers #publicsafety #publicsector #everydayheroes

For She Should Run founder + CEO Erin Loos Cutraro, it’s critical for women to reconsider whether or not they are “political.” Women are already showing up for their communities on the issues that matter to them, so it’s just a matter of seeing themselves in elected leadership! Women’s political power is at significant risk of stalling, or even sliding backward. Why we need you in politics:

Such an inspirational organization.
This year has been filled with remarkable moments and accomplishments for Dress for Success! Reflecting on our achievements, none of this would have been possible without the support of our esteemed sponsors and partners, as well as our amazing volunteers around the world. Their contributions represent kindness, connection, and a shared vision for a brighter, more equitable future. Thank you for being an integral part of our community, helping thousands of women in their paths to economic self-independence each year, and for making 2024 a remarkable year. Together, we can accomplish even more in the year ahead!

Social media…in person? Networking in person has something that online networking doesn’t: warmth and the ability to perceive the humanity behind the businesswoman (or man). That being said, utilizing social media for networking is equally valuable and allows you to expand your reach. Do both and do them both better. #womensupportingwomen #womenownedbusinesss

Can we talk about Jotaka Eaddy, Founder of #WinWithBlackWomen and the impact of starting your own business? I am inspired by the momentum I have been witnessing since last night and the impact of 44,000 Black Women jumping on a Zoom and raising over 1.5 Million for Kamala Harris' campaign. But I am most impressed by the impact of using your talents, skills, and natural GIFTS to impact the world. Go Jotaka! Start those side hustles!!!
