It was such an honour to be able to contribute to the discussion during #FoodInnovate Industry Day 2024 a few days back. The topics covered were highly curated and targeted. I was present in the Food Gut Microbiome together with several other industry leaders sharing our thoughts and challenges. The very on the ground challenges shared such as lack of awareness on what good gut microbiome can do for consumers' health, how would consumers know if the products really can improve their gut health and that companies generally prefer not to be the pioneer in spending marketing dollars to generate buzz and consumer awareness. With a neutral perspective in IPI, so much more effort is required for public and private partnerships to accelerate the growth of demand from our consumers. Some ingredients include: 📢 Research sectors to provide science to back functional products 📢 Public efforts to drive education and provision for companies to make ethical claims for their functional products 📢 Corporates/Enterprises to tap on existing and research, to collaborate with each other to develop a winning formula.
