What a powerful and inspiring message from an amazing human ! Congratulations once again and looking forward to seeing the impact you will continue to make.
From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis:
Happy Election Day! I hope that everyone is feeling purposeful today. As we are partaking in this year's election, I believe that as a whole we can navigate whatever comes our way.
This week, we focus on what it means to be an inclusive leader. In Phase Two: Why of the SWORD Inclusion System as it pertains to being an inclusive leader, we activate our ability to scenario plan for various outcomes.
Here are some examples:
--- ADAPTABILITY: In our scenario planning, an inclusive leader focuses on adapting to various outcomes. There is a plan in place for both.
--- LEVERAGE CONNECTIVITY: As an inclusive leader, we remain open to possibilities by leveraging our relationships to navigate any outcome.
--- SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE: To maximize our capability, we must sustain our efforts.
As complex as this election may be, an inclusive vision remains the same. Overall, we are co-creating this world together, no matter the outcome.
Enjoy!

Madam Speaker is a new digital speech archive from Victorian Women's Trust and Your Creative designed to platform the vital contributions of women and gender diverse Australians across history.
The platform aims to challenge the masculine bias inherent in the reporting and recording of Australian speeches and address the longstanding underrepresentation of female and gender diverse voices in the public record.
Our chair, Julia Gillard's, misogyny speech is highlighted as an example of the kinds of history making orations this archive aims to capture.
Mary Crooks AO, Executive Director of the Victorian Women’s Trust, commented: “It has been voted the most unforgettable Australian TV moment, and was reported by The Guardian as taking on a life of its own... The impact of women’s words on public debate has long been significant, yet over time, have been rendered invisible by the practices of patriarchal institutions.”
Speaking at the launch, Crooks shared her ambition for the initiative: "Ultimately, this project is about reshaping ideas around authority and leadership, showing that these qualities are not the preserve of men in our society. We want to provide the next generations of women with the practical tools to speak with confidence and fearlessly take up leadership positions.”

I truly suggest everyone take the time to watch this on-line series ‘Moments That Make Us’ with Melinda French Gates and her efforts to showcase perspectives from some of the most influential women. In light of today’s political climate of ‘Cultural Wars’, this series is insightful providing a perspective demonstrating the strength of compassionate moments that embraces humanity. #melindafrenchgates#momentsthstmakeus#compassion#humanityhttps://lnkd.in/gzxxP-dK

Obligatory 5-thoughts on UNGA/climate week:
(1) More messy experimentation. There's a little bit of perfectionism creeping in, and....no-one has a deeply sustainable anything (city, country, car, computer, cellphone, chatbot, and you can go one with other letters). Define the problem at the level of clarity that allows you to do something about it, then do it, then re-define with insight.
(2) Deeper youth inclusion. The most compelling folks were younger (Aishwarya Machani, Yasmina Benslimane). Future generations don't have a fair seat at the decision-making table.
(3) There are lots of people getting stuff done. So very many. So lovely to see. Find them. Listen to them. It's thrilling.
(4) Still too many bad sessions/events.
-> Ask yourself what problem your meeting is solving? (Yes, fixing information asymmetries, and communicating ideas can be solutions to real problems!).
-> Then, ask yourself if people reading speeches solves the very specific problem you are trying to address. (NO, with the one exception where the act of the speaker speaking secures political support, and the audience is just there to...feed generally male egos!)
-> Use Mentimeter or Slido or whatever to solicit questions in advance. If you must have a panel, use tools to make it relevant and inclusive.
-> Don't chicken out from making powerful folks work/think. If you're going to have a concentration of power in a room, use it to solve a problem/really learn. These are golden opportunities, too frequently missed.
(5) Don't be cynical. A lot of fussing over imperfections in the #pactforthefuture. If you've every tried to get something approved by 190+ different *countries* you know how hard it is. If you haven't, stop and really think on that for a second. A solid 60% of the people getting stuff done (#3!) are doing so in an SDG-affiliated framework. It's honestly having more impact than I think we ever imagined.
I suspect that in 8 years time, you will find people using the hooks lovingly crafted (Michele Griffin, Adam Day (he/him) +++) in the Pact and it's framing to vision, create, finance and execute. Oh hurl critiques. I have some. But also, do something.
President Obama said it better than I can. And this, in simple terms, is what our lovely planet needs all of us to do - get it started, get it done.

Charter Advocate, current Advisory Board Member, and past Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans award recipient Claire Lewis (Yum) Arnold shares advice for new female board members:
“Don’t be afraid to speak up, but also make sure that your voice is heard. One of the benefits of having multiple women on a board is they can reinforce each other’s contributions. Before you accept a board role, it is a good idea to interview all the other sitting board members. And make sure the business aligns with something you are passionate about.”
Ahead of Thursday's vote, CONCORD Director Tanya Cox urges Ursula von der Leyen to prioritise feminist EU principles in the new college of commissioners.
A feminist EU Commission is crucial to ensure peace, prosperity and well-being for people and planet.
🔊 "A commission focused on power, competition, patriarchy and neocolonial approaches will guarantee we all lose in a zero-sum game. Increasing our security, our stability and our prosperity at the expense of others can only backfire in the long term.
A feminist Commission with a feminist vision will enable us all to win by treating global stability and prosperity as a collaborative effort. The choices leaders make now matter."

Now is the moment to strengthen the feminist principles of sharing, caring, collaboration, partnership, and equality that the founders of the EU chose 70 years ago.
