A new poll from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Texas Association of Business reveals that more than 80% of Texans want lawmakers to maintain a level playing field and let solar complete with oil and gas. This strong public support underscores solar's role in creating jobs, reducing electricity costs, and fostering a sustainable future for Texas. “Texas officials who hinder solar development are out of step with what voters want: more solar,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of SEIA. “The Texas solar industry is continuing the state’s rich legacy as an energy leader, and the state’s economy and electric grid are stronger because of it.” At National Grid Renewables, we’re proud to contribute to this movement, with 695 megawatts of clean solar energy produced in Texas across the Blevins, Copperhead, and Noble Solar & Storage Projects. Everything is bigger in Texas.... "Texas, the nation’s new leader in utility-scale solar generation capacity, has added to its arsenal with Danish Fields and Cottonwood, a pair of utility-scale solar farms with integrated battery storage in the southeast part of the state. Today TotalEnergies announced the start of commercial operations at the facilities, which have a combined capacity of 1.2 GW, increasing the company’s Texas portfolio to nearly 4 GW in operation or under construction." According to the latest American Clean Power market report, Texas has now surpassed 22 GW of utility-scale solar generation capacity, representing about one-fifth of the country’s total. Another 12 GW are under construction, more than the next five states combined. Full story in comments. #solar #renewable #energy #texas

Texas wants Solar Energy ☀️ As the Texas 89th Legislative Session approaches, it's crucial to reflect on what Texans are saying about solar energy. A recent poll revealed that Texans largely support solar and the clean energy incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act. Poll respondents agree that policymakers should be encouraging the use of solar energy and oppose additional permitting requirements for solar. HARC's policy work and participation in Solar for All aims to reduce barriers and promote equitable access to solar energy across the state. Last week, New York's Public Service Commission approved a plan to add 6GW of energy storage across large-scale, community, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors by 2030. The plan intends to bolster grid reliability and resilience by expanding NY's energy storage programs to cost-effectively unlock growth. Pairing distributed energy solutions like solar with battery storage increases a customer's resiliency to costly power outages and ensures a stable supply of power to keep businesses running. Onyx Renewables is excited to see continued support for renewable energy programs in our home state of NY and believes that clean energy legislation will be a key factor in advancing a more sustainable energy future.
