Everything is bigger in Texas.... "Texas, the nation’s new leader in utility-scale solar generation capacity, has added to its arsenal with Danish Fields and Cottonwood, a pair of utility-scale solar farms with integrated battery storage in the southeast part of the state. Today TotalEnergies announced the start of commercial operations at the facilities, which have a combined capacity of 1.2 GW, increasing the company’s Texas portfolio to nearly 4 GW in operation or under construction." According to the latest American Clean Power market report, Texas has now surpassed 22 GW of utility-scale solar generation capacity, representing about one-fifth of the country’s total. Another 12 GW are under construction, more than the next five states combined. Full story in comments. #solar #renewable #energy #texas

Europe’s ‘Largest’ Solar Park Commissioned In Germany ◾ Europe’s ‘largest’ solar power plant is now online in Germany with 605 MW capacity, commissioned by solar developer Move On Energy. The latter plans to expand it by an additional 45 MW which is planned to be grid-connected by summer this year. ◾ The Witznitz Energy Park is located in Leipzig and has been feeding electricity into the grid since the end of Q1/2024. It is connected to the transmission network of 50Hertz Transmission GmbH. ◾ Hansainvest Real Assets owns the entire 605 MW capacity which is contracted to be supplied to Shell Energy Europe under a long-term power purchase agreement from 600 MW capacity. It was signed in 2023. The project had been under construction since June 2022 ◾ The additional 45 MW, which will expand the project’s overall installed capacity to 650 MW, will be added by Move On Energy on its own. It will then include around 1.1 million solar modules to cover the average annual electricity consumption of close to 200,000 4-person households, according to the investor. ◾ Project promoters plan to test agricultural activities on site by using the area under the solar modules. They will use 5 to 10 hectares of land to test for the purpose. #energyticslimited #renerableenergy #energyefficiency #energyinnovation #solarplant

PVMagazine USA reporting on the number of projects in the queue in PA. "Pennsylvania queued solar projects would increase total capacity 18x Land development marketplace LandGate released data through Q3 2024 showing that Pennsylvania has 46 solar facilities combining for 562 MW of capacity. There are an additional 9 projects actively under construction that will increase the state’s capacity by nearly 50%, adding 263 MW of additional capacity. Proposed projects waiting in queues total 480 projects combining for 10,469 MW. However, it takes time for these queued projects to come online, particularly in Pennsylvania, which is managed by the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM). LandGate said it takes an average of 3 years for a project to go from queue to operational. The company expects about 10 GW of utility-scale solar to come online by the end of 2025, which would mark an unprecedented boom year for the state. However, the potential 18x increase in solar capacity depends on queued projects actually coming online, which may be challenged by grid interconnection delays." 🤠 Something big is brewing in the Lone Star State, which has quickly become the new hotspot for the country’s solar power and energy storage sectors. With total solar power generation skyrocketing by 3,700% over the last decade, Texas has staked a credible claim as the renewable energy capital of America. With these big solar numbers, it might be no surprise that Texas has become a prime destination for solar manufacturing in the U.S., like Trinasolar's 1.3-million-square-foot PV manufacturing facility in Wilmer, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. When completed at the end of 2024, the 5GW state-of-the-art facility will bring 1,300 new solar jobs to the area. ☀️ Even solar is bigger in Texas, learn more: https://bit.ly/48ojkyV #TrinasolarUS #TexasSolar #SolarManufacturing

Everything is bigger in #Texas. Texas is rapidly growing into the new center of the country’s #renewable #energy universe. Trinasolar is part of this story. Trina US Manufacturing is developing a 1.3-million-square-foot PV manufacturing facility outside Dallas. When completed at the end of 2024, the 5GW state-of-the-art facility will bring 1,500 new solar #jobs to the area, with the company planning to double the workforce by 2025. The facility’s annual production of #solar modules will be enough to power half a million homes! There is no debate, Texas is powering the renewable energy #transition.

Today, the permit for the expansion of our existing 95 MW Lyngsåsa wind farm in Alvesta, Småland by an additional 95 MW of solar PV capacity has officially come into effect. With 190 MW combined renewable energy generation capacity, the hybrid park is expected to deliver 425 GWh of electricity per year, enough to meet approximately 85,000 Swedish households’ electricity demand (excluding heating). By combining wind and solar power production, the asset will achieve a more consistent production profile with an enhanced ability to maximise revenues. The expansion project is also the first in Sweden to receive an environmental permit based on a voluntarily initiated thorough review by local authorities, which will provide further long-term stability. Projects like the Lyngsåsa expansion benefit from lean implementation at comparatively lower cost by optimising land use and by leveraging the existing infrastructure and grid connection. The expansion thus exemplifies our active approach to value creation, as our portfolio management teams continuously explore and implement value-add opportunities. #renewableenergy #windpower #solarenergy

German company Encavis AG has acquired a 62 MW solar park in Dietfurt and Breitenbrunn, Bavaria, from FRONTERIS Energie GmbH (FRONTERIS Gruppe), which is also overseeing the project’s construction. The project entered into the construction phase in September 2024 and is slated for grid connection in Q2 2025. Once operational, the solar park will generate approximately 67 GWh of green electricity per annum. “With a generation capacity of 62 MW, the solar park in Dietfurt and Breitenbrunn is our largest solar park in Bavaria to date,” said Mario Schirru, CIO/COO of Encavis. “With this first joint project with FRONTERIS, we are increasing our total generation capacity from wind and solar energy in Germany (on the grid and under construction) to 780 MW.” “The Dietfurt project – in close cooperation with our partner company PRIMUS Solar GmbH – is one of the largest projects in our more than 20-year company history,” added Marcus Vilsmeier, Managing Director of the FRONTERIS Group. “We were very pleased with the competent and goal-oriented cooperation with the authorities and municipalities and, of course, the new partnership with Encavis AG. We are optimistic about further opportunities for cooperation in the areas of solar, wind and battery storage.” The solar park’s electricity output is secured through a 20-year EEG feed-in tariff, ensuring stable revenue streams for the project. #cleanenergy

Solar & Storage Live 2024 Birmingham kicked off today with an opening keynote from our Chief Executive Chris Hewett highlighting the UK's transition to renewable energy, with the last coal power stations set to close next week. Renewables, particularly wind and solar, are scaling up, aiming for 70GW by 2035 and potentially tripling solar capacity. The discussion emphasised the need for 30GW of energy storage by 2030. California's success with renewable energy was cited, showing it's possible to achieve a renewables-only power system. The UK government is committed to solar and storage, with plans to invest in clean energy projects and reform planning to support rapid solar deployment. The sector is expected to create numerous jobs, and the industry was encouraged to promote these opportunities. #SolarStorageLive #SolarEnergyUK
