While there is much to celebrate, it is vital to acknowledge the challenges that are placing an increasing burden on the generations to come. I personally think that, if we are patriotic about our country as we say we are; our national pledge should be enough insight to build as a country. The national pledge of Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a statement of commitment and loyalty to the nation, emphasizing unity, respect, and patriotism. It reads as follows: "We, the people of Papua New Guinea, pledge ourselves, united in one nation. We pay homage to our cultural heritage, the source of our strength. We pledge to build a democratic society, based on justice, equality, respect, and prosperity for our people. We pledge to stand together as one people, one nation, one country. God bless Papua New Guinea." Meaning of the Pledge 1. Unity in Diversity: The pledge starts with a commitment to unity among the diverse population of Papua New Guinea, recognizing the importance of coming together as one nation despite cultural and regional differences. 2. Cultural Heritage: It acknowledges and pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of PNG, which is seen as the foundation of the nation’s strength. 3/15 🌟 Honoring 15 Years of Mieux! 🌟 The MIEUX Initiative, the project I have been working on for more than a decade, is coming to an end. Therefore, I will share one reflection or anecdote for each year of MIEUX. This is the 3nd one. One of the cornerstones of MIEUX's success has been its demand-driven approach. We believed that partner countries are best placed to identify their own needs. Through this principle, partners across the globe were in the driving seat to request assistance tailored to their specific priorities and especially capacities. We streamlined the process to ensure that it was as simple and straightforward as possible. During the project closure event a few days ago, this feature was highlighted as a key game-changer for partners as it was instrumental in fostering meaningful partnerships and driving impactful outcomes in migration governance: 138 projects in over 100 countries and more than 15,000 participants. A few examples: From national-level migration policy frameworks in 🇨🇻Cabo Verde, 🇲🇺Mauritius, 🇸🇱Sierra Leone, and 🇹🇬Togo to strategies for diaspora engagement in 🇬🇭Ghana, 🇲🇬Madagascar, and 🇲🇩Moldova. MIEUX assisted governments in 🇨🇷Costa Rica and 🇨🇻Cabo Verde to develop integrations plans, 🇰🇬Kyrgyzstan, 🇹🇭Thailand, and the 🇵🇭Philippines to develop communication campaigns, and 🇧🇷Brazil and 🇰🇿Kazakhstan to support vulnerable children and families in their migration journeys. Diplomatic delegations of 🇸🇻El Salvador and 🇬🇪Georgia strenghtened their assistance for citizens abroad, 🇪🇨Ecuador, Gran Chaco, and 🇧🇯Benin conducted new insightful studies on environmental migration, and 🇨🇲Cameroon, 🇰🇬Kyrgyzstan, and 🇺🇬Uganda rolled out standardised training programs to build and increase their pool of trainers.

Such an important piece by Dr Cameron H. for anyone interested in improving the effectiveness of Australia's development cooperation. Underscores how essential it is to have dedicated resources directed to identifying why some investments are indeed catalysing transformative change and why others are abject failures. Also reminds me of why initiatives such as the research-based Developmental Leadership Program (DLP) were so valuable - 'Unlocking the black box of political will - ten years of learnings from DLP' still remains a benchmark analysis of how positive change happens and the role donors and their programs can play in facilitating it. Here's hoping the work of researchers like Lisa Denney can continue to inform Australia's aid program, so that lessons are built from - and approaches that are divorced from, and irrelevant to, the drivers of locally-led reform are discontinued.

💬 "What will my new municipality in Sweden be like?" 💬 "How soon will my children start school after arriving in Sweden?” 💬 "How soon after arrival can I start looking for work?” As part of IOM’s pre-departure orientation in Tanzania last week, Sweden-bound quota refugees had online meetings with their future municipalities to learn more about the services in their new hometowns. This initiative, piloted in collaboration with the Swedish Migration Agency (SMA), allows refugees to have direct contact with their new communities already before arrival, supporting early integration. The pilot is part of SMA's K.V.O.T project, funded by #EU #AMIF and designed to foster a sustainable resettlement process that benefits all actors involved. IOM Europe and Central Asia
