Here are the 120 trees we'll be planting across the district. Our tree and grounds maintenance teams are storing the young trees in Lyndhurst, and these will be planted around our towns and villages over the next few months. Taking care of these trees, and continuing to plant new ones, plays a big part in helping us towards achieving our climate and nature recovery aims. Our trees remove a total of 1.5 tonnes of air pollution every year, helping to protect our environment and health. 🌳

It’s World Ocean Day! Today, June 8, serves as a reminder of the major role the ocean has in our life. It is a source of food and jobs, cleans the air, and governs the weather. Even the coral reefs play a large role in protecting our coastlines from storms and erosion, absorbing 97% of a wave’s energy which provides a buffer for flooding of coastal communities. However, 50% of our coral reefs are destroyed, and scientists predict that 99% of reefs could disappear by 2030. Additionally, 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic waste are estimated to be in our oceans and the Pacific Garbage Patch is twice the size of Texas. This year’s World Ocean Day theme “Awaken New Depths” was chosen to highlight the urgent need to change our relationship with the ocean before it’s too late. We can all do our part to protect our oceans through using reef safe sunscreen at the beach, properly disposing of trash, recycling, and reducing our carbon emissions. As storm season begins, let’s remember to protect our ocean as our ocean protects us. Also, here are our storm safety tips at https://lnkd.in/g4tA4BBa.

Let's try to conserve water this week! Saving water is important for the Earth. It helps protect the environment by saving energy, protecting aquatic life, and ensuring agricultural production. Reducing water use guards against future drought years and rising costs. Water is critical for socio-economic development, healthy ecosystems, and human survival. Conservation protects the balance of life on Earth and sustains other life forms. Here are some ways to use less water at home: Shower for less time. Use rainwater in the garden. Use the short flush. Cut back on car washing. Reuse water. This week, let's be conscious of how we use water and save on water use! #savewater #sustainability

🌍 Happy World Environment Day! 🌍 Every year on June 5th, we celebrate World Environment Day to remind ourselves of the importance of protecting our environment. This year's theme focuses on land restoration, combating desertification, and building drought resilience. One of the biggest threats to our environment is drought, which is becoming increasingly common due to climate change. But there are sustainable solutions to address this challenge: 💧 Rainwater Harvesting: By collecting and storing rainwater, we can reduce the consumption of potable water and ensure a sufficient water reserve during dry periods. This is an efficient way to irrigate plants and mitigate the effects of drought. 🌾 Drought-Resistant Crops: Certain plants have developed adaptive mechanisms to thrive with minimal water. Growing these crops can reduce the need for intensive irrigation and help us adapt to climate change. At GreenPoint, we actively contribute to environmental protection through specific waste management actions and sustainable methods. Our certifications are a testament to our commitment and professionalism. Today, we joyfully celebrate World Environment Day, confident that we are part of an important initiative that benefits us all. Let's continue to work together towards a greener, more sustainable future! 🌿 #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #DroughtResilience #RainwaterHarvesting #GreenPoint #EnvironmentalProtection

Some things should be a matter of course. Protecting the environment is one. The only problem is that it is not. Or rather: To too many it is not. This year’s #WorldEnvironmentDay focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. And even though we operate at sea, this is also important to us. The UN points to seven ways to restore land, halt desertification, and combat drought. In one of them, renewing coastal and marine areas, countries are encouraged to enforce strict regulations on pollution. At Höegh Autoliners, preventing pollution - protecting the environment - is a focal point. Both pollution-to-air and pollution-to-water. And thereby land. As a global shipping company, we have a responsibility to the environment in which we operate. And we systematically work to reduce our environmental footprint. We operate a strict zero garbage overboard principle. All garbage produced on board is segregated in separate containers and only disposed of at approved shore facilities. We minimize the spread of invasive species through Ballast Water Treatment Systems. Two important pollution-to-water initiatives. Two pollution-to-air goals: Our zero by 40: Our aim to reach net zero operations in 2040. And our 30 by 30 goal: Our target of reducing our annual efficiency ratio of more than 30% by 2030. We are well underway. And we are working every day to get there! #Shipping #Maritime #Sailingforsustainability #HöeghAutoliners

SAVE RIVER & WATER, LIFE FOR YOUR FUTURE GENERATION "Protecting our rivers and water sources is crucial for securing a sustainable future for generations to come. Rivers not only provide vital freshwater for drinking, agriculture, and industry but also support diverse ecosystems and wildlife habitats. However, rampant pollution, overuse, and climate change threaten the health of our waterways. By taking action now to conserve water, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable water management practices, we can safeguard our rivers and ensure access to clean water for future generations. Let's join hands to save our rivers and water, preserving life and prosperity for our children and grandchildren."
