Much like fitness, health, and relationships that matter, you’ve got to play the long game in B2B marketing.
When I took over marketing at Funnel (after a short, unsuccessful stint as a salesperson) I was very deliberate about long-term gains over short-term symbolic wins.
Our (incredible) team focused on building valuable resources and giving them away for free.
Trying new tactics and taking risks.
Doing events that shake up the status quo.
Creating an entirely new software category and changing how we sell.
Remaining fun and approachable as a brand.
This journey isn’t for everyone--you don't get the empty kudos of a quick win, and it requires faith from leadership and colleagues.
But you do get long term sustainable successes.
Many companies big and small are hurting, pulling back marketing spend, or laying people off.
