Day 1 at the 2024 AMA-Sheth Doctoral Consortium Had the pleasure of attending this insightful workshop focused on collaborating with industry, and here are some wonderful points shared by the panelists: Michael Ahearne, Thomas Rudolph, Johannes Habel, Barbara Kahn, P. K. Kannan, and Anne Roggeveen. Early Collaboration: Engage with companies from the beginning, including jointly designing research and data collection. Timely Reporting: Ensure timely feedback to industry partners. Industry Conferences: Attend practitioner-oriented conferences to identify collaboration opportunities and understand managers’ pain points. Advantages of academics: raising novel research questions and offering unbiased and cross-industry insights. 🚀 Maximising the Economic and Social Value of Research Portfolios: Successful Completion of Our Pilot Programme! 🚀 I was thrilled to see the successful delivery of the final session of our latest innovative training programme 'Research to Value', which aims to unlock the latent commercial opportunities hidden within research portfolios.  Great to work with Zach Sorrells to create this programme after we had a flash of inspiration talking to Orla Kelly who commissioned it. It saw pairs of professional service staff and researchers buddy up to learn an innovation management process to define commercial opportunities and the unknowns associated with them. The pairs learned ‘fast and cheap’ methods essential for validating and quantifying opportunities to fit within the time constraints of competing work priorities. This 'live case study' methodology ensured the programme was output-focused and an investment of time rather than taking time out. Six pairs from different Scottish Universities took part and the feedback has been amazing. We’ll share more fully what we’ve learned when we’ve completed the evaluation.
