As a circular economy specialist, we are committed to transforming the waste industry to support sustainable growth and combat climate change. Why It Matters: 🚮 The UK waste industry is pivotal in the transition to a circular economy, but faces challenges with stagnant recycling rates and the influx of new materials. 💨 Waste sector emissions, including energy-from-waste plants, account for 6% of the UK's GHG emissions, with landfill emissions making up 60%. Our Framework: 🔄 Designed to drive waste separation, end landfill and incineration of valuable materials, and incentivise responsible waste management. 🌱 Aims to keep resources in circulation, reduce reliance on virgin materials, and encourage investment in future resource management. Key Principles: Design out waste from the start. Keep materials and products in use to preserve their value. Rely on renewable sources and energy to regenerate nature. Join the Movement: We invite businesses and the government to collaborate with us to ensure our waste industry boosts recycling rates and manages resources effectively. Our Circular Waste team attended the 2024 Coffs Waste Conference and took the opportunity to speak about waste management with stakeholders interested in hearing about the latest trends, technologies, and strategies making waves in the sector. Key takeaways from the event included everyone is now talking about circular economy, which is great to hear, but the challenges are vast and constantly evolving. It signals that people more than ever need to work together to encourage better design, knowledge sharing and partnerships if we are to genuinely tackle these issues – there is more than enough work for everyone if we intend to move from a linear to a circular society. Our team were proud to be hosted as part of a visiting delegation to meet with the Coffs Harbour City Council team and find out about how a significant NSW regional Council is strategically managing its waste impacts and looking for future circular options where possible and where I makes sense economically. “The scale of the transition from current waste management practice to circularity is significant. Unlocking Funding for Waste Management Infrastructure    To tackle #PlasticPollution, a #CircularEconomy is essential, but it requires investment in waste management infrastructure.
