🚨 Global Waste Management Alert! 🌍 The latest projections for municipal solid waste destinations in 2030 and 2050 reveal a concerning trend: uncontrolled waste and landfills are set to dominate, far surpassing recycling and waste-to-energy solutions. This alarming scenario underscores the urgent need for global action to tackle waste management effectively. We must innovate and act NOW to shift the balance towards more sustainable practices. Let’s champion recycling, invest in waste-to-energy technologies, and reduce landfill dependency for a cleaner, greener future! 🌱💪 #WasteManagement #Sustainability #Recycle #WasteToEnergy #ClimateAction

🌍 Enabling the Circular Economy 🌍 Reconomy is excited to introduce our 10-point regulatory framework aimed at revolutionising the waste sector, unlocking growth, and meeting the UK's net zero targets. As a circular economy specialist, we are committed to transforming the waste industry to support sustainable growth and combat climate change. Why It Matters: 🚮 The UK waste industry is pivotal in the transition to a circular economy, but faces challenges with stagnant recycling rates and the influx of new materials. 💨 Waste sector emissions, including energy-from-waste plants, account for 6% of the UK's GHG emissions, with landfill emissions making up 60%. Our Framework: 🔄 Designed to drive waste separation, end landfill and incineration of valuable materials, and incentivise responsible waste management. 🌱 Aims to keep resources in circulation, reduce reliance on virgin materials, and encourage investment in future resource management. Key Principles: Design out waste from the start. Keep materials and products in use to preserve their value. Rely on renewable sources and energy to regenerate nature. Join the Movement: We invite businesses and the government to collaborate with us to ensure our waste industry boosts recycling rates and manages resources effectively. Together, we can create a consistent regulatory market that supports sustainability and economic growth. 📘 This report, completed with Sancroft, delves into waste reforms across seven resource streams and four management methods. For those interested in discussing this work further, we welcome your engagement. Let's work together to reshape the waste industry, drive sustainability, and move towards a waste-free world. 🌿 #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #NetZero #WasteManagement #Reconomy #ClimateAction #ResourceReform Learn more about our framework --https://okt.to/dgyBhI

Our Circular Waste team attended the 2024 Coffs Waste Conference and took the opportunity to speak about waste management with stakeholders interested in hearing about the latest trends, technologies, and strategies making waves in the sector. Key takeaways from the event included everyone is now talking about circular economy, which is great to hear, but the challenges are vast and constantly evolving. It signals that people more than ever need to work together to encourage better design, knowledge sharing and partnerships if we are to genuinely tackle these issues – there is more than enough work for everyone if we intend to move from a linear to a circular society. Our team were proud to be hosted as part of a visiting delegation to meet with the Coffs Harbour City Council team and find out about how a significant NSW regional Council is strategically managing its waste impacts and looking for future circular options where possible and where I makes sense economically. “The scale of the transition from current waste management practice to circularity is significant. However, it provides a huge opportunity for people to genuinely collaborate and reimagine a future economy that values resources and plans differently to meet society’s need on the path to net zero.” ‒ Damien Connell, Principal: Circular Economy. Waste management infrastructure is essential to address the issue of plastic waste leakage into the environment. Almost 2.7 billion people currently lack access to basic waste management services that underpin #CircularEconomy and are critical if we are to end #PlasticPollution. #PlasticsTreaty
Unlocking Funding for Waste Management Infrastructure To tackle #PlasticPollution, a #CircularEconomy is essential, but it requires investment in waste management infrastructure. Currently, nearly 2.7 billion people lack access to waste collections. There are many sources and mechanisms to fund the necessary waste management infrastructure needed to stop plastic pollution, and the global agreement has a tremendous opportunity to provide an important framework to do so effectively and collaboratively across public, private and financial sectors. 🌟 This International Day of Zero Waste, we're reminded of the collective journey we're on - a journey towards sustainable waste management. At Evac, we're enabling a waste-free future by focusing on what we do best: innovate. As a pioneer of circularity in the industry, we're collaborating with our partners to lay the foundation for circular waste management within the maritime industry with Evac® Hydrotreat. By choosing the right way, not the easy way, we offer customers an effective solution to close the loop of waste management on board vessels. We empower our customers to future-proof their investments by reducing reliance on waste-to-energy methods for onboard waste treatment. We transform waste into a resource, a byproduct that can be returned to the soil and re-enter the food production process. 🌊🌿 Learn more! https://lnkd.in/drBbM3iQ #InternationalDayOfZeroWaste #NothingToWaste #EvacHydroTreat #FromSeaToSoil #CircularWasteManagement #SustainableMaritime

🌍 At Urban Surfer, we’re not just addressing waste management—we’re innovating it. Our latest initiative introduces non-recyclable bins at reclaimer sites, ensuring that materials which can’t be recycled don’t end up polluting our waterways or filling landfills. Instead, these non-recyclables are diverted to create sustainable bricks for housing, turning waste into a resource that builds a better future. This is just one of the corporate-sponsored solutions we offer to support waste pickers and their essential work. Want to make a real impact through responsible waste management? Visit www.urbansurfer.co.za 💡 Join us in transforming waste into opportunity.
