The Norwegian mission to the EU has representatives from nearly all Norwegian ministries. Among other engagements they identify at the earliest stage possible issues related to the EEA and Schengen cooperation that are of political or economic importance to Norway. They safeguard Norwegian interests in negotiations and work closely with the EU institutions. The Mission is also an important center of expertise on EU and EEA affairs. This is some reasons why Asgeir Tomasgard and I met the Counsellor for Energy Ragnar Semundseth to present the NTNU Energy Transition Initiative (NETI) and our aim to provide knowledge based strategic advise to industry and society in the energy transition. Thanks for good discussions and ideas for further collaboration. #energy #ntnugreenshifters #transition #engage #knowledge #research NTNU Energy, NTNU Energy Transition Initiative (NETI), Mission of Norway to the EU

We are calling on the EU to implement an immediate and full ban on Russian #LNG, as well as its transshipment via the #EU ports! We urge the German government, which has demonstrated great reluctance to pursue the bare minimum - a transshipment ban on Russian LNG - to reconsider its position and support a ban now. There is no more time to waste. Every day of inaction is a lost opportunity to save people’s lives in #Ukraine and to ensure the EU’s transition to clean #energy. 🚀 Roman Andarak, Director General for Strategic Planning and European Integration at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, provided a keynote speech at the Ministerial Session of 2024 WindEurope’s international exhibition and conference, which takes place in #Bilbao, Spain 🌏. The session aimed to unlock the value of wind, and it was attended also by #Spain, #Germany, #Turkey, #Greece, and #Moldova. Mr. Andarak, in particular, revealed the value of #wind for Ukraine’s post-war “green” #recovery as well as its further #sustainable development and growth. A year ago a new 2050 Energy strategy was adopted. According to it, by 2030, Ukraine aims to achieve a 27% share of RES in gross final energy consumption, while the total installed wind power capacity should increase to 10 GW by 2032. 💬 “Every wind turbine, whether it is installed in Ukraine or the EU, means less consumption of russian gas and less income for killing civilians, both the elderly and children. Every megawatt of clean energy is a significant contribution to our common European energy security,” a representative of Ukraine’s Ministry stated. In addition, Ukraine's case shows how wind energy technology can effectively contribute to the modernization of infrastructure, from roads to the grid. That is why the government defines wind energy as the basis for rebuilding the country after the war. 🙏 In the end, Mr. Andarak expressed his gratitude for the support, solidarity, and assistance provided by all European partners. Representatives of UWEA’s Secretariat as well as its member companies are traditionally among the participants of the event!

Earlier today, Director Artur Lorkowski participated in a panel discussion on Ukraine at the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) meeting in Bucharest. He emphasized that with sufficient funding, the Energy Community's Ukraine Energy Support Fund, in cooperation with G7+ partners, can secure critical energy equipment for Ukraine to rebuild its infrastructure before winter. "Utilising windfall profits from frozen Russian assets to support the reconstruction and repair of Ukraine's energy infrastructure would also hold Russia accountable,"stressed Mr. Lorkowski. #SupportUkraine #SupportUkraine #UESF #EnergyResilience

As Europe navigates the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis, questions about the EU's response and the protection of critical energy infrastructure have become increasingly vital. In collaboration with Veronika Slakaityte, we've explored these issues in two comprehensive reports. Our first report examines the EU's strides in adhering to the energy policy goals outlined in the REPowerEU plan, launched in the spring of 2022. We assess progress across several key areas: diversifying energy imports, enhancing energy savings and efficiency, redesigning the electricity market, and boosting renewable energy production. The second report offers a deep dive into the historical evolution of European energy policies, evaluates the emerging hybrid threats to our energy infrastructure since 2022, and addresses the complex challenges and dilemmas in safeguarding it effectively. Discover the insights and solutions proposed in our reports through the following links: https://lnkd.in/dZq7cFiS https://lnkd.in/dRRGfmVg #repowereu #energypolicy #energyinfrastructure #energysecurity

Some of our colleagues have been involved in both the EU's development and adoption of Network Codes and are currently working on doing so for some Energy Community Contracting Parties. We know how hard it is to get this right and commend Ukraine for achieving this in the current situation. #EnergyTransition #Ukraine #EUIntegration #EnergySecurity https://lnkd.in/ek7iipZk https://lnkd.in/gTvT4dec
