Following my great colleague Jorge G Coelho’s post, I am happy to share my own 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio which accurately reflects a soon to be sealed first year as Urban Mobilities advisor at BABLE Smart Cities When you're part urban planner, part actor, and full-time mobility enthusiast, 2024 becomes less about projects and more about human stories. This year at BABLE Smart Cities, I discovered that the best urban mobility solutions are written not just in project reports, but in the languages of streets, people, and unexpected connections. From Barcelona to Las Palmas, we've been transforming urban spaces by focusing on what truly matters: making cities more livable, accessible, and human. Three moments that captured this journey: 1. Bike Lane Design: Sometimes innovation is about the smallest details. In Barcelona, I explored how a well-designed bike lane can transform urban mobility. "And this is how a good bike lane is designed: On the left side of the road, wide enough to ease takeovers and welcome other users, clearly signalled." https://lnkd.in/dhCY3xF8 2. Sitycleta Sin Límites: Mobility isn't just about infrastructure; it's about connection. This initiative proved that "Some success stories in urban mobility chase numbers and replicate impacts. This one also dances with our hearts." By creating inclusive cycling programs for individuals with disabilities, we're reimagining what urban mobility can mean. https://lnkd.in/dR7JJxD7 3. BABLE Smart Cities: Transitioning to Senior EU Project Manager, and contributing to deliver knowledge via tailored webinars, moderating panels on smart systems, solutions, and technologies in EU Cities and share the experience of the execution of urban and mobility innovation stonecutting projects. https://lnkd.in/drkX55SS Looking ahead to 2025: We'll continue scaling smart mobility solutions across EU cities, always remembering that behind every data point, every infrastructure project, there's a human story waiting to be told. Entre proyectos, idiomas y ciudades, seguimos construyendo movilidad humana. (Between projects, languages, and cities, we continue building human mobility.) #LinkedInRewind #UrbanMobility #SmartCities #EUProjects #2024wrapped -- Get your 2024 LinkedIn Rewind! As part of the Fair Mobility project, our team members from Technologiezentrum Energie (TZE) and URBASOFIA were glad to attend the insightful POLIS Network webinar "Enhancing Shared Mobility: Innovative and Inclusive Policies and Tools moderated by Bax's Sharing Innovation Consultant Sami Angsthelm . We were there to listen, learn, and gather insights from the featured developments of three interreg projects— SMAPE - Shared Mobility Action Programmes Exchange, ShareDiMobiHub, and Shared Mobility for All - SMALL. The session provided a wealth of knowledge on how regulatory frameworks and policy tools can foster more inclusive and sustainable shared mobility services. The event reinforced the notion that innovation doesn't always require forging new paths, as many of us are already on a journey of similar trajectories, and that teamwork is not confined to just our immediate groups. ShareDiMobiHub brought to light the significance of frameworks in mobility, prompting us to consider debates on the best ways to design these frameworks. It highlighted the delicate balance between stimulating innovation and the need for regulation, how these regulations influence vehicle ownership, the use of motorized vehicles, and their environmental impact. It was widely agreed that there is a need for stronger regulation in mobility, especially in micromobility, while also taking into account the unique challenges faced by rural areas. SMAPE - Shared Mobility Action Programmes Exchange's implementation in the North Aegean Region served as a prime example of the critical role of EU collaboration, stakeholder motivation, and the synergy between local businesses and authorities to foster community acceptance of mobility changes. Special mention goes to Shared Mobility for All, an initiative that closely mirrors our own, with a focus on shared mobility. Both projects are dedicated to improving mobility for everyone, and our approaches are remarkably similar. We aim to understand needs, empower communities, and co-design innovative mobility solutions, testing them in pilot cities to develop recommendations and frameworks and with Urbasofia's leadership, we are like you reviewing regulatory and policy frameworks for inclusive and fair mobility. The connections have been made, and we look forward to working together and continuing our exchange of ideas for a more inclusive and sustainable mobility future.
