While there's debate about the usefulness of quantifying the national number for the U.S. housing shortage because it is largely a local issue - it's easy to account for the impact that utilizing NMTCs for affordable homeownership has had across the country thanks to the community based nonprofit developers responding to local needs. Homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula is a growing crisis that touches the lives of many in our community. With the cost of living on the rise and affordable housing becoming increasingly scarce, more individuals and families are finding themselves without a safe place to call home. The Mornington Community Support Centre is doing vital work to address this issue, providing crucial services to those in need. From emergency relief and housing assistance to advocacy and support, their efforts make a real difference in the lives of the vulnerable members of our community. However, more needs to be done.
