🌟 New Episode Alert: The Good Effect Podcast 🌟 I am thrilled to announce our latest episode featuring Frank Bedolla, the founder of the Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah! Frank's journey and insights into the nonprofit world are nothing short of inspiring. Here are three key takeaways from our conversation that I believe everyone can learn from: The Importance of Engaging Fathers: Frank shared his experience working with families and the significant impact that involved fathers can have on children's lives. His organization focuses on empowering men to take an active role in parenting, which is crucial for the well-being of families. This highlights the need for programs that encourage fatherhood and co-parenting, ultimately benefiting the entire family unit. Resilience in the Face of Challenges: Frank's journey to establish his nonprofit was not without its hurdles. For the first few years, he faced difficulties in securing funding and had to rely on volunteer work. However, his determination and passion for making a difference kept him going. This serves as a powerful reminder that perseverance is key in the nonprofit sector, and sometimes, the most rewarding paths are the ones that require the most effort. Building Community and Support Networks: One of the most heartwarming aspects of our discussion was Frank's emphasis on the importance of community. He spoke about how fathers in his programs support each other, sharing experiences and advice. This sense of camaraderie not only helps them grow as individuals but also fosters a supportive environment for their children. It’s a testament to the idea that we are stronger together, and collaboration can lead to transformative change. I encourage you all to listen to this episode and reflect on how we can all contribute to our communities, whether through mentorship, support, or simply being present for those around us. 🎧 Tune in now to hear Frank's incredible story and learn more about the impactful work being done at the Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah! https://lnkd.in/gA4jdcBk #TheGoodEffect #Nonprofit #Fatherhood #CommunitySupport #Inspiration #Podcast

Over a million Americans are unsure of where they'll sleep each night. What goes through your mind when you walk by a homeless person? Admittedly, I've walked and driven by many homeless people in Chicago. Sometimes giving loose change and most of the time a warm smile and a greeting. After this episode of the AHI Show with Jonathan Kumar, the innovative founder of samaritan, my mindset about the homeless has shifted. Jonathan shares the moving story of Charles, a man whose life was uplifted by Samaritan’s comprehensive support. Jonathan's idea for Samaritan uses special wallets that help people without homes set goals and get the funds they need from people who believe in them. This isn't just about money; it's about connecting people and helping build a community that cares and restoring dignity. Big change starts by combining and making small changes at scale. If this episode inspires you, please be a good samaritan and share it with your network. My personal philanthropy has a primary focus on the human rights of children and young people. Which is understandable when you hear my own story of childhood abuse and neglect. I strongly believe that every child deserves to be loved, safe and able to thrive, no matter where they were born. I also believe that this is the responsibility of the whole community - not just the biological parents. That is why I chose to apply to be a Trustee for Hope and Homes for Children and it was an absolute honour to be selected for this huge responsibility. As such, I have had the privilege to see the positive results of their incredible work, but there is so much more to be done. Sadly, at least 5.4million children are currently separated from their families, shut away inside orphanages, and staggeringly 80% are not even orphans. Orphanages are not the safe place we have been led to believe by decades of well meaning charity work and philanthropy. It is well researched and demonstrated that orphanages expose children to abuse, trafficking, and physical and psychological trauma that can last a lifetime. 📖🔬here is just one study https://lnkd.in/ejxvhEk7 No child should end up in an orphanage. There is ALWAYS a better solution. Today is the UN #InternationalDayofFamilies and this marks the launch of HHC’s campaign #BacktoFamily. It’s an incredible and well thought out campaign, using #AI to protect the rights of children. What can you do to help get children out of harms way today - i’ve made an easy list below (with a little help from the team at HHC) 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐 💛 Please share this poignant message from Kristin Scott Thomas 💛 Sign the petition www.backtofamily.org 💛 Donate https://lnkd.in/eJDgcu8R 💛 Attend one of HHC’s fab events https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Challenge yourself and fundraise as a bonus! https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Follow HHC and share their posts on social media - this is a social movement to protect the rights of the most vulnerable children 💛 Join their mailing list to stay up to date https://lnkd.in/efzc4dAz At the very least I encourage you to take a look at their website and learn more about the harmful effects of orphanages, what the alternative is and how #philanthropy has a catalytic role to play in this social movement https://lnkd.in/egzS5ua5 ‼️Philanthropy should be about learning, so if you have been funding an orphanage and want to learn what you can do to help those children please get in touch with me today xx ‼️ #BackToFamily #socialmovement #artificialintelligence #AIforgood https://lnkd.in/edyeVuQr

…🥂In this episode of Savvy Wife Savvy Life, we confront the paradox of wealth and poverty in California, where homelessness is normalized despite the state's affluence. We explore how tax dollars intended for solutions often fall short, leaving children and families on the streets or in cars. We empower listeners to challenge this status quo through informed voting, advocacy for systemic change, and understanding legal rights when social services fail. Additionally, we discuss the steps to start a nonprofit focused on empowering women and children facing financial instability and homelessness, emphasizing mission clarity, research, partnerships, and sustainable practices. Together, we aim to break the cycle, redefine prosperity, and create a more inclusive and compassionate society for all Californians💛 #savvywifesavvylife #thesavvycircle #thesavvylifestylelounge #lifestyle #podcast #podcasting

This week, I'm highlighting my own nonprofit clients, past and present, who can benefit from your holiday donations in their world-changing work. First up, my old employer, Community Solutions, Inc.! As we prepare for a new administration in Washington, it's more important than ever to lift up evidence-based solutions to homelessness at both the individual level (like Housing First) and the systems level (like multi-agency teams and by-name, real-time data). Many communities across the country are making progress on homelessness, despite the prominent narrative that everything is falling apart, but that progress is fragile and it can be undone if we stop listening to the experts, including people who have experienced homelessness, and doing the things that work. I love these 6 video vignettes about the ways that communities are actually solving homelessness, told by those on the frontlines of this crucial work. If you're still looking for places to make a holiday donation, you can donate to Community Solutions at www.cmtysolutions.org or even use their network map to find a local organization in your own community. #homelessnessissolvable #untilwereallhome

HOPE is Homeless. Hope is an unexpected hand for a stranger. Home is not just a roof, home is a place where you feel comfortable and secure. Once you help yourself you can help others. Help is growing. To get out one person of the streets in 6-12 months, it gets 30 people to meet one hour/week to stranger that they don’t know. Some people get out of the streets because of the government helps, but they need a job. Is where #HomelessEntrepreneur is focus. Is not just putting a roof over their heads, is about giving them the #opportunity of being active citizens, turning availabilities into assets, turning donations into deposits, that they may give back to other people to get off the streets. Housing first is a great way to be able to focus on their lives, but they need a job. 35% of the them are #homeless because the lost their jobs. #Hope is working, getting off the streets and being able to get involved in the society. Talent can change our/their lives. Yesterday our friend Andrew Funk started #thegreatwalk. A Fundraising Campaign to raise awareness & end global homelessness. “The Great Walk,” is a 150 km walk to give a voice and presence to the 150 million homeless individuals worldwide: Every kilometer they walk represents 1 million people made of potential experiencing homelessness. The upcoming Great Walk will culminate in a sleep out, coinciding with the XXXIII Olympic Summer Games in Paris, France. Their aim is to inspire individuals affected by homelessness and their future support network through their commitment to ending homelessness, so they can connect the two groups faster and ultimately speed up the process of ending their state of homelessness. Hope is an unexpected hand for a stranger. https://lnkd.in/dcFqykU2
