Before Ford, Chrysler, or General Motors became household names, there was C.R. Patterson—a man whose determination and innovation broke barriers and built history. Charles Richard Patterson, born into slavery in 1833, forged his way into freedom and entrepreneurship, becoming the founder of the first African American-owned automobile company in the United States. He turned his experience as a blacksmith into a thriving business, producing horse-drawn carriages before transitioning to the automotive world under C.R. Patterson & Sons. The Patterson-Greenfield car, released in 1915, stood as a testament to the craftsmanship and forward-thinking vision of the Patterson family. It was more than just a car—it was proof that innovation knows no boundaries of race or background. But the challenges of competing with industrial giants like Ford made sustaining production a battle the company could not ultimately win. Though no Patterson-Greenfield cars are known to have survived to today, C.R. Patterson's legacy endures. He blazed a trail for Black innovation in the automotive industry—a trail that Pontiac Motor Company now seeks to expand upon as we revive a beloved brand and bring it into the future. At Pontiac Motor Company, we honor the spirit of C.R. Patterson—his resilience, his creativity, and his refusal to accept limitations. Our journey is inspired by pioneers like him, who proved that the automotive industry is a place for everyone, and that greatness can come from anywhere. We stand on the shoulders of giants as we build the next chapter of Black-owned automotive excellence. Together, we can drive change, one car at a time. #PontiacMotorCo #CRPatterson #BlackAutomotiveHistory #IworkforGM #LegacyOfInnovation #BlackOwnedBusiness #DriveWithUs Have you heard about C.R. Patterson's incredible journey? Share your thoughts below, and let’s celebrate those who paved the way for future generations of innovators! Bless - DXB

In periods of uncertainty, having a 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. Results come from 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆. Those who know me, know that we must work towards our collective goals, pause briefly (15 min? ) to enjoy our achievements, and then continue our journey. Of course, there are intermediate milestones - some key moments to measure the trajectory. As a team we wanted to deliver year of year sales growth for 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆. We did this with 𝟭𝟱.𝟲% 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 and an increase of 17.4% compared to the first two months of last year, with LCV being at 27.9% (+10.1% vs. previous year). During this period, we lived and breathed the detail, building to our result hour by hour each day. Now with a deep breath we continue and focus on the next achievement. The Sale of Dealerships Daimler's decision to sell its dealerships is a reflection of the changing consumer landscape. As online shopping and home delivery services become increasingly prevalent, the traditional dealership model is facing challenges. This shift could lead to job losses among dealership staff, including sales representatives, mechanics, and administrative personnel. However, it also presents opportunities for new roles, such as digital marketing specialists and customer service representatives. The Closure of Factories Volkswagen's closure of two factories is a direct response to changing market dynamics and the increasing demand for electric vehicles. While this decision will undoubtedly result in job losses, it is also a sign of the industry's transition to a new era. The closure of factories may lead to a shift in manufacturing operations to regions with more favorable conditions for electric vehicle production, potentially creating new job opportunities in these areas. Vehicle Recalls BMW's recall of vehicles is a common occurrence in the automotive industry, often triggered by safety concerns or technical issues. While recalls can temporarily disrupt production and lead to job losses in specific areas, such as quality control and manufacturing, they are generally not a long-term threat to job security. In fact, recalls can often create opportunities for engineers, technicians, and other professionals to address the underlying issues and improve product quality. Overall Impact on Job Security The combined impact of these developments on job security is complex and depends on various factors, including the specific regions affected, the nature of the jobs at risk, and the availability of alternative employment opportunities. While there is undoubtedly a risk of job losses, it is important to recognize that the automotive industry is constantly evolving. The transition to electric vehicles, the rise of autonomous driving technology, and the increasing emphasis on sustainability are all driving significant changes that could create new jobs and opportunities. As automotive engineers, it is essential to stay informed about these developments and to adapt our skills and knowledge to meet the changing demands of the industry. By embracing new technologies and focusing on innovation, we can help to secure our own job security and contribute to the long-term success of the automotive industry.
