Living Above Challenges in a Complex World Today, I want to share a Subhashita that deeply resonates with me. It offers timeless wisdom about aligning our thoughts, words, and actions—a principle that’s as essential in personal growth as it is in leadership or technology: "Sadayam hridayam yasya, bhasitam satya-bhushitam Kayah para-hito yasya, Kalis tasya karoti kim" Translation: One whose heart is filled with compassion, Whose speech is adorned with truth, And whose actions serve others selflessly— What can challenges do to such a person? This verse reminds of three powerful principles: 1️⃣ Compassion in Thought: Empathy shapes how we see the world and others. It’s also a foundation for effective collaboration, whether you’re leading a team or designing technology that serves users. 2️⃣ Truth in Speech: Honest, clear communication builds trust. In Agile teams, for example, speaking with transparency—even about difficulties—strengthens collaboration and outcomes. 3️⃣ Service in Action: True impact comes from aligning what we do with the greater good. This might mean mentoring others, contributing to open-source, or building ethical AI solutions. But alignment isn’t always easy. Bringing together what we think, feel, and do requires ongoing reflection. That’s why I often pause to ask myself: Am I truly compassionate in my thoughts? Are my words truthful and constructive? Are my actions aligned with what I value most? These simple but powerful questions have helped me navigate both personal and professional challenges. They remind me to focus not on perfection, but on progress—and on living and working in a way that feels authentic and purposeful. How do you bring alignment to your thoughts, words, and actions in your work or life? I’d love to hear your insights. #Coaching #Leadership #Compassion #Truth #Service #AgileLeadership #EthicalAI #Reflection

I’ve read many of Seth Godin’s books and as a newsletter subscriber, I found this post particularly thought-provoking. It asks us to put ourselves in the place of others, transcending the workplace as a way of everyday thought and practice. Empathy should not be an afterthought but an innate part of our engagement with others. In the workplace, this is especially important as managers lead without being overbearing, allowing the people who work for them the freedom to explore, manage, and deliver, all based on the parameters of the work. Having been a manager, managing is never heavy-handed but acts to remove the impediments that keep the people under your leadership free to do their work unencumbered. This short read is worth it, but better yet, carry its advice as active thinking throughout today and maybe indefinitely. Food for thought after all! #management #leadership #empathy #work #decency #trust

7 Surprising Traits of Deep Thinkers (💭 and how to adopt them!) The most successful people are deep thinkers—they naturally dive into meaningful thought without overthinking (because that's just stressful 😅). Deep thinking unlocks 3 big wins: 🧠 Sharper decision-making 🛠 Better problem-solving 🔍 Greater self-awareness Want to level up your thinking? 🆙 Start with these 7 surprising traits: 1️⃣ Live in the Grey Area 🔘 Deep thinkers don’t chase black-and-white answers. 💡 Tip: When forming an opinion, consider both sides. 2️⃣ Question the Obvious ❓ They rarely take things at face value. 💡 Tip: When everyone agrees, ask: "What if we’re wrong?" 3️⃣ Intensely Curious 🧐 They’re lifelong learners, always exploring. 💡 Tip: Pick a random topic each week and dive in! 4️⃣ Comfortable with Solitude 👤 Big thoughts need big space (mentally & physically). 💡 Tip: Spend 15 minutes daily sitting with your thoughts. 5️⃣ Embrace Complexity ⚙️ They see beauty in the details. 💡 Tip: Take time to fully understand a problem—don’t rush! 6️⃣ Playful with Ideas 💡 Deep thinking isn’t all serious—creativity thrives in fun! 💡 Tip: Let your mind wander for a few minutes daily. 7️⃣ Pattern Spotters 👀 Patterns unlock clarity. 💡 Tip: Start noticing recurring themes in your day-to-day . 💬 What would you add to the list? I'm often asked what kind of coach I am, who I work with, what differentiates me. I work with highly analytical and technical experts. They are the best at what they do. And often because of that, they are selected as leaders. Achieving through others brings a whole new suite of challenges. Often the analytical and technical skills that made them so successful in their field, won't necessarily help them to thrive as a leader. They can find themselves overwhelmed, stressed, dissatisfied. I work with these leaders as their thinking partner, to reach into the, perhaps, underutilised parts of their brain to find solutions to their challenges. Using approaches from neuroscience, NLP, PQ, TA, I help them to gain clarity of approach in their daily lives. Clarity means messy situations are unravelled. Noise is turned down. They have renewed focus and energy, having uncovered for themselves exactly what they need to do. #claritythroughcoaching https://lnkd.in/eXt3EZVe

✨Starting Strong with "Begin with the End in Mind"✨ I'd like to express my gratitude to my previous GM for introducing me to Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." One concept in particular, "Begin with the End in Mind," has been incredibly valuable in my approach to work and life. Imagine this: visualizing the desired outcome before diving into the nitty-gritty of planning. This simple shift has transformed my daily routine. Instead of just checking tasks off a list, I now start by asking myself, "What do I want to achieve by the end of the day/week/project?" By keeping the end goal in mind, I can prioritize tasks more effectively, avoid distractions, and ensure my efforts are aligned with the bigger picture. This approach has also helped me make well-informed decisions that contribute to long-term success. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the 7 Habits. It's a treasure trove of valuable insights for anyone looking to be more effective! #productivity #leadership #manufacturing #AI #poweredbyGemini photo credit: rob walsh@unsplash.com

I don't notice discussions around Impostor Syndrome as much today as in 2021, though Adam Grant mentions it in an interview with Nora O'Donnell on CBS recently. Leveraging several new AI-based tools, I have created an easy-to-read transcript of that presentation and have posted the video. The ideas here may give you some tools to combat your own feelings of "being an impostor." Check it out! https://lnkd.in/gm9t6XEH
