Yesterday, I hosted 50 students at my favorite NYC restaurant, Burritos Y Mas, for an intern networking night. I’ve talked about going to this burrito restaurant in almost every single vlog I posted on my Instagram, and I love planning community events, so I knew I wanted to host an event there at some point. I wasn’t sure what to plan initially, but considering most of my audience were also college students, it made the most sense to host an event for students. I honestly had no idea what to expect from the event, but everything went better than I could’ve imagined. We had 10% discounts for everyone who RSVPed in advance on the Partiful (love this platform), a burrito speed-eating contest, and good vibes all around. My biggest takeaway from planning this event was that if you want an event with good turnout and cohesion, the people you’re trying to attract should be hyper-specific. Literally, ALL I did to promote this event was 1 Instagram reel, 3 story posts, and 75 RSVPs filled up in less than 8 hours. The reel I posted was shared more than 400 times, and I didn’t have to put any extra effort into advertising. Students were sharing it on their own volition because I advertised the event as an "intern networking night." So, if you happened to be an intern, then you would share it because it made sense for you to go. Conversely, if I had just said "networking night," the age range and clarity on who’s attending would be unclear. Also, by advertising it as an "intern night," besides it being better for advertising, it ensured that everyone who was coming had at least something to relate to (i.e., college, internships). I couldn’t be happier with how it went, and thank you to everyone who came out. I’ll hopefully be planning more events like this in the future! #burritonight #pumpedup #lit

🌟 Wrapping Up My Summer Internship Adventure! 🌟 As my summer internship comes to an end, let me take you on a quick, humorous journey of how it all started. I always dreamed of working with big brands. Either a major name like the one I landed or an internship with a fabulous stipend—LOL, guess which one I got? (Hint: my wallet's still crying 😂). But hey, luck aside, this internship taught me something far more valuable than a hefty paycheck: the importance of learning. Not going to lie, I didn't know Thumbs Up was a Coca-Cola product. Spoiler alert: it is! But jokes aside, I learned an incredible amount about how a company operates at the grassroots level. From understanding product demand to seeing how retailers engage through various promotional activities to boost sales, it was an eye-opening experience. Watching Market Growth Representative (MGRs) perform their on-field duties was like getting a front-row seat to a business masterclass. It’s been an insightful journey, packed with knowledge and growth. As I look forward to my next chapter, I can’t help but feel grateful for this experience. Our company was looking for interns this year, and I was surprised by the number of people that reached out. After taking some time to reflect, here are some tips I’d like to share to make you stand out as an applicant for an internship. 1.) Ask us about what our day to day looks like- this shows a deeper level of interest in the company, will give you a better idea of the career, and the feedback you receive will help you understand if you are a good fit. 2.) Ask for help on a project. Showing you have a genuine interest in your craft, and are open to learning, will make you stand out. We are excited to teach and learn with you! 3.) Do not ask for a recommendation or referral from anyone right off the bat. We are here to work together, not to use each other. Create real conversations with people, recommendations and referrals will come naturally. Remember, I want to help people succeed. I am fortunate to work at a company where we all want to elevate each other. What makes us special is our passion and drive to create the best pet care products on the planet, which has created an extraordinary culture.
