🚩 Sorry Williams Since the beginning of F1 in 1950, there have been 125 Constructor Teams, all contributing to its excitement and glamour. Amalgamations and name changes have made up the rich history. Not all in a positive way; nonetheless, they are contributors to the beautiful story of Formula One. One of my readers, James Babcock, kindly reminded me that I had omitted to include Williams in my recent article about the most influential teams in F1. He is correct; Williams was a force to reckon with in the 80s and 90s. Winning numerous championships and having drivers the likes of Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Jacques Villeneuve and Ayrton Senna, to name but a few. They won Nine Constructor’s Championships and Seven Driver’s Championships. Williams was formed in 1997 by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head with the most excellent intentions and ambitions. Whilst I am in no way qualified to provide empirical facts, there are a number of other teams that, in my humble opinion, deserve a mention. Namely, Alfa Romeo, Benetton, Caterham, Cooper, Force India, March, Matra, and Renault impacted F1 with innovation, imagination and striking results. Currently, we are experiencing distractions from the racing with scandals and rumours. Of course, F1 has always been a hotbed for malicious gossip. Some of the sometimes outrageous behaviour and smear campaigns may provide future exciting research. Watch this space.

With Daniel Ricciardo stepping away from Formula 1, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the one of the sport's modern icons. While many will remember him for his incredible talent, just as many will recall his personality and charisma, which opened countless opportunities for brands over his 14-year career. With the vast commercial growth of Formula 1 in the last 5-years, teams face a choice: a driver who delivers consistent points and podiums or one who drives views, clicks, and brand awareness. On-track performance brings prestige, prize money, and major sponsors, as seen with Mercedes and Red Bull over the last 15-years. However, a driver like Ricciardo adds long-term value through fan engagement and sponsor interest, even during sub-par seasons. The real question: what do teams prioritise- immediate results or long-term growth? In my opinion, both are key, but in today's Formula 1 landscape, a driver's brand may be just as important as their lap times. What do you think: are results or marketability the key to long-term success in motorsports?

It's lights out and away we go for the Formula 1 2024 season opener in Bahrain! As much as I anticipated the roar of engines marking the start of a new season and more breakthroughs on the brand awareness side, I must admit, the race left me yearning for more excitement, a lot more. The predictable outcome with Max as the top qualifier taking the checkered flag hardly raised any eyebrows. But let's talk Ferrari - a brand leader synonymous with passion, style, and performance. Yet, their lead driver, Leclerc seems to be missing that fiery edge needed to clinch victories consistently. Is this perhaps the reason behind Hamilton's high-profile move to the team? From what we've witnessed in Bahrain, it seems Ferrari might be playing catch-up with Red Bull throughout another season. Now, here's where I want to stir the pot a bit - do you believe Ferrari's strategy needs a real shakeup to challenge Red Bull's dominance effectively? Could the Hamilton announced move be the catalyst Ferrari desperately needs to disrupt the status quo this season, or is the team facing deeper issues? And let's not shy away from discussing Max - is there anyone on the grid capable of challenging his supremacy, or are we looking at another season of Red Bull racing ahead unchallenged? (recent controversy being a TBD regarding Max staying at Red Bull) I'm eager to hear your thoughts on which team and driver has caught your eye this season. Who do you see as the dark horse capable of surprising us all? Let's get the conversation going - F1 2024 is just revving up, and there's plenty to talk about my F1 friends! #F1 #F12024 #formulaone #redbullracing #ferrari #mclaren #mclarenracing #astonmartin #alpineracing

Monaco Well I’m sure even the most die hard F1 fans , share the thought : the Ferrari win at the weekend and for Charles was well deserved and hugely popular . His Pole quite outstanding & given the levels at which multiple Giant talents are now Pedaling ~a serious statement of things to come ! This begs the question , what did Lewis see ,as he prepared to put pen to paper ! However having been in Monaco for F1 on more than 20 occasions including ,during the Senna era : the overtaking or “ serious lack of it “ is for me the stand out feature in Monaco of this year & not a welcome one . If ever there was a doubt that todays Aero with dimensions of cars that come with it ,is to the detriment of spectators - Sunday was that visual confirmation . Monaco is of course narrow & arguably the greatest Street Circuit of them all : but with multiple braking Zones , slow speed corners and undulations ,it’s a track Drivers of years gone by loved . It’s a limited number of informed persons ,that know what the Rule changes for 2026 bring : but I for one ,so much hope the cars can follow 0n track & importantly are of dimensions that afford the Space to pass . F1 is of course intended to show case and encourage cutting edge Technology of tomorow it is of course a laboratory for features on road cars to come : let’s not forget a modern F1 car requires the best Athletes in the World to extract performance ~ there is a danger the FIA will curb this to the point a willing Audience can evaporate & all this as F1 conquers new levels of following and arguably has a trajectory of Growth not seen before . Here is hoping 2026 and beyond provides a Catalyst for increased popularity 👍 The Win this recent Weekend delivered emotions and confidence in Spades : let the Ferrari / Mclaren era resume !

𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐝: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅1'𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 The 2024 F1 season was a whirlwind of unexpected twists and turns, from Max Verstappen's dominant performance to McLaren's surprising championship win after a 26-year drought. However, one of the most significant and headline-grabbing news was Lewis Hamilton's move from Mercedes to Ferrari. This high-profile transfer has far-reaching implications for both teams and the sport as a whole. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢: it presents an opportunity to capitalize on Hamilton's immense popularity and global appeal. By aligning with a fashion icon and seven-time world champion, Ferrari can attract a younger, more diverse audience and strengthen their “Ferrari Style” brand image. Hamilton's influence can help elevate Ferrari's luxury lifestyle brand and expand its reach beyond the racetrack. However, the team faces the challenge of re-positioning Hamilton as a Ferrari driver, breaking the strong association he had built with Mercedes over the years. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬: Hamilton's departure opens up a new chapter. While it allows for fresh talent to emerge, the team will undoubtedly miss his experience and influence. The challenge lies in maintaining their brand appeal and fan base without their star driver. This move is a strategic gamble for both teams, and its long-term impact on F1's landscape remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on Lewis Hamilton's move to Scuderia Ferrari ? #F1 #Formula1 #LewisHamilton #Mercedes #Ferrari #SportsMarketing #Branding #Marketing #ByHabiba

I spoke with John WallStreet about Formula 1 adding Cadillac to their grid as the 11th team. Liberty Media got many things right (like more freedom for teams and drivers on social media, the Miami and Las Vegas GPs, Netflix's Drive to Survive, implementation of the cost cap, etc.). The results in valuation and sponsorship revenues are nothing but spectacular. Sustaining their growth rate in the coming years will be much harder though. This becomes clear looking at 2 of their latest decisions that prioritize short-term revenues over protecting their own brand. 1. Adding team(s): One of the key attributes of Formula 1 is scarcity. Adding a new team goes in the opposite direction. It dilutes the value of every team. Imagine what adding 3 National Football League (NFL) franchises or 2 new Premier League teams would do to the leagues. 2. The choice of brand(s): Another important brand differentiator of Formula 1 is being "premium". When you think of F1, you think of McLaren racing Ferrari in Monaco. Formula 1 is not your everyday race. Cadillac isn't a brand that belongs in the same grid as McLaren Racing, Scuderia Ferrari, Aston Martin F1 Team, and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. Formula 1 will not stop growing because of any single decision. But when many of them detract value from who they are, we have a classic case of "death by a thousand paper cuts". https://lnkd.in/dZD3CXuk
