Did you know parents don't get food in children's hospital? We are expected to find it in the shops even if we can't leave the kids because they are sick and need us. Crazy. How do I sit in the bed with a tray munching away? When my son was living in hospital as a baby, my friend and I took a spa day break breather. But we had to pump our milk and store it. "No, absolutely you can't store breast milk in the restaurant fridge" my friend reported back. I had it sorted 5mins later. When I was on holiday in Madeira, I kept getting special treatment and found out they were convinced I was a celebrity and wanted to impress me. It's not magic. It's not coincidence. It's not bribery. I can show you how I do this. It's legit. It's kind, it's on a win-win basis. Imagine a world where you effortlessly command attention. You speak with natural authority. You get what you need. People bend over backwards to help you. You captivate your audience - from the moment you step on stage or appear on the screen. You have the freedom and confidence to tell jokes and connect deeply with your audience. Picture yourself confidently expressing your thoughts, ideas, and messages in a way that leaves your listeners inspired and ready to take action. The Impact Amplifier is the key to this world. 🎂 Happy National Cake Day!🎂 While we’re all enjoying a slice of cake today ( or peanut better off a spoon), let’s reflect on the famous phrase, "Let them eat cake!" – often symbolising an out-of-touch attitude. It's a reminder that, as business owners, it’s not enough to just offer something superficial or assume what others need. In business, are we truly listening to our clients and teams? Are we offering real solutions or just providing the equivalent of “cake” when what’s needed is something more meaningful, like support, empathy, and action? Here’s what we need to ask ourselves: ✔️ Am I understanding the real struggles of my clients or team? ✔️ Am I offering value that truly addresses their needs? ✔️ How can I lead with empathy and make a real impact? Remember, success isn’t just about the product or service we offer—it’s about understanding, connecting, and providing what truly serves others. So, as we celebrate National Cake Day, let’s also celebrate the power of truly listening, understanding, and supporting those we serve. 🍰💬 🌟 Action Tip: Take a moment to check in with your clients or team—ask, "What challenges are you facing, and how can I help?" #NationalCakeDay #BusinessLeadership #EmpathyInAction #CustomerCare #LeadershipMatters #TeamSupport AVN Inspiring Accountants Susan Clegg Shane Lukas Jenny Lukas Emma SlackHolly Booker

"Consistency is what transforms average into excellence" When I started slicing vegetable (pumpkin leaf) I had problems with slicing my flesh almost every time. I'd always shout and expect my mom to carry the tray of vegetable but, she never did it. She'd smile and tell me to continue with the slicing. I remember bleeding from a cut while slicing the vegetable, I stared at her hoping to hear, "bring it let me slice it". My mom never said it, instead, she told me to tie the bleeding finger with a material and continue the slicing. One of the times this happened, she told me to be strong. In her words, "you have to be a woman." 🤣 She's a typical example of an African mother and she's an amazing woman, too. She's actually my model. Well, fast forward to this moment where I no longer slice my flesh while slicing vegetable. It was just my consistency and resilience that brought this part of me. ....... What's my point? ..... It's simple, CONSISTENCY. Consistently doing something makes you used to it. It becomes your lifestyle. When something becomes your lifestyle, you automatically become an expert. So, consistency leads to expertise. Consistently doing something also helps you get rid of mistakes. It helps you identify your mistakes and gives you a chance to correct them. Consistency leads to relevance. So, whatever you find yourself doing that's right, do it consistently. Kings will come to your rising when they see your consistency. Teach yourself to be consistent. ----- Happy Sunday! ———————————————————— Seeing my post for the first time? Sat having a coffee and appreciating the long, long, long, long (you understand this, yes?!) awaited blue sky and sunshine ☀️ And I’m reflecting on a conversation I had last week about being resilient and keeping going with your belief and knowing ‘even’ when others don’t get it, understand or help and encourage in any way. I recalled times and numbers of no’s I faced on my food brand journey, I think my record of no’s with an individual buyer, Fortnum & Mason actually was 13, yes, 13 outright no’s (we did get the listing in the end, and it proved mutually profitable) You see our healthy snacking concept was ahead of the curve, people didn’t get it, seems unbelievable now doesn’t it, but that’s the power of following your intuition, standing by your truth and ploughing on amisdt the no’s, someone has to trailblaze the way. So, if you’re facing a no today, or wondering how to keep your faith when your intuition is being tested. Step back, tune back in, listen to your gut, readjust your approach if necessary, but keep going. If it’s worth doing and you have that passion anyway, why wouldn’t you? So that’s my coffee musings in the gorgeous sunshine, picture becuse why not! ☀️ #motivationalspeaker #leadershipdevelopment #femalespeaker #personalpower

Thursday's #FoodForThought LISTEN (BETTER) 💟 How often do you find yourself getting lost in your thoughts or interrupting when speaking to people? Rather than getting caught up in your own thoughts, really listen to the other person—pay attention. Being present will help you enjoy your time with that person more and feel more engaged. Maintaining eye contact and asking questions can help you stay in the present moment.

Simply because of Ketchup Sachet Good evening all Have tea !!!! Finding Guidance in the Everyday While enjoying dinner tonight, I had a moment of reflection sparked by something as simple as a ketchup sachet. As I opened it, I noticed the corner clearly marked "Open Here," with dotted lines guiding the way to ensure the ketchup flows out smoothly. This small action made me think about how often we need to follow the dots in our daily lives to achieve our desired outcomes. It's true that sometimes we improvise, and that can lead to great results. However, I wonder how much more consistent our achievements could be if we followed the prescribed paths more closely. Life can throw unexpected challenges our way, making it difficult to stick to the dots. Yet, I believe that when we do, we set ourselves up for success in all aspects of life—whether in our work, relationships, or personal growth. This simple ketchup sachet reminded me of the importance of following the right path, not just for ourselves, but in how we interact with others. …The way we treat people and the messages we leave behind can be influenced by our choices to follow— or disregard—those guiding dots. So, the next time you’re faced with a decision, big or small, consider the dots. They might just lead you to a smoother, more fulfilling journey. Just a little food for thought, inspired by a condiment! Love you all Tarek

Last week, Michiel spoke with Food Futurist Jack A Bobo, delving into the psychology behind our food choices. Jack discussed the ways our brains are guided by ‘invisible’ influences such as confirmation bias and availability heuristic. The bottom line: We can’t trust our own brain. To gain insight into the nuances that sway our decisions and how to navigate them to make personally relevant, informed choices, revisit last week’s episode, watch Jack’s TEDx talk, “Why We Fear the Food We Eat,” and read his book, “Why Smart People Make Bad Food Choices,” linked in comments. https://lnkd.in/gnYcsHGi

So true in so many ways
So this may be a little Debbie Downer. Sorry. But it is real for most early-stage food founders I know. The PRO is (usually) big enough and powerful enough to balance out all those CONS. But if the scale tips for you every once and a while, if the CONS just feel too heavy, don't blame yourself. It's real. That is normal! That's why we celebrate the little wins, lean on each other, learn everything we can so there aren't too many unforced errors, and focus on step by step (process over outcome). I thought it would add a little humor by mapping them out this way. It is kind of ridiculous, and yes, a privilege too...
