We've sent 233 issues of the Medium Newsletter so far this year; this one was the most-read: “Persuasive people don’t argue — they listen.” The title is a quote from Andy Murphy’s “16 Strange But Beautiful Paradoxes in Life.” https://lnkd.in/eKRxtdvb

About us
We're a tight-knit group of engineers, editors, and creatives combining humans and technology to create a new model for digital publishing. At Medium, we celebrate diversity in people, perspectives, and experiences, and we encourage new ideas and experimentation. Like our platform, there's room for you and your ideas to breathe — you’re not constrained by your job description. "This year, Medium’s biggest resolution was to try to build a better internet. That’s a huge goal. It’s daring. It’s lofty. And, like every other goal, it would have fizzled into nothingness without being backed up by people willing to show up and do the work." Some really excellent winter break reading in this end-of-year recap: https://lnkd.in/e3Hh8ejE

This week, on Beyond the Thesis With Papa PhD I have the great pleasure of having as my guest Tony Stubblebine, CEO of Medium, to talk about how academics and scientists in general can find their audience in an extremely noisy media ecosystem. Reaching out to non-academic audiences and sharing scientific knowledge outside the walls of the lab is more and more important for academics and the exponential multiplication of communication channels has not helped reduce the noise, making the task that much harder. With Tony, I will try to explore what avenues and best practices the scientific community can rely on to best reach its different audiences. Join us and take part in this important discussion!
