We were super excited to have Stephen Poncini join us for an AMA session with some of our PLG motion founders at Forum Ventures Steve grew Atlassian's Strategic Accounts to $180M ARR (30-50% YoY growth) and built their Enterprise License Agreement program from zero to $33M ARR. 🚀 He shared his hard-earned insights with us. Here’s what I took away from it: First, become part of customers' critical development infrastructure. If you can do that then you can leverage PLG success to build an enterprise motion. Take a data-driven approach. Atlassian used customer behavior data and control groups to identify exactly when human touchpoints would drive ROI in the customer journey. This included strict criteria for identifying enterprise-ready candidates. Instead of leading with discounts, Steve focused on giving strategic customers ability to negotiate terms and conditions. This preserved pricing integrity while still enabling multi-year, multi-million dollar commitments by tailoring to what enterprise clients needed pricing and contract flexibility. In the last 365 days Atlassian has added $1,119,864,000 in net new ARR. That's 33% ARR growth YoY. They added $252,308,000 in just the last 90 days. They achieve this ARR growth more efficiently than almost any other SaaS company. They're only spending 21% of revenue on S&M. Their peers spend much more - and often grow more slowly. Monday spends 56% of revenue to grow at 33% Hubspot spend 46% and are only growing at 20% Even Palantir (trading at 47X ARR) has to spend 29% of revenue to generate 30% growth. Another incredible quarter from Atlassian. Shares were up 19% post earnings announcement. 

In the recent price increase blog post from Atlassian they not only announce another massive price increase, they also threw in even more restrictions to an already battered Assets product that has been slowly dying for a while now. Not only is it getting more and more restricted in terms of functionality, they now place a Consumption-Based Pricing for Assets and Virtual Service Agent. This is in itself a pretty bad idea as most companies do not like consumption based pricing because it makes budgeting almost impossible, but to add it based on asset objects will effectively remove any incentive to actually work with the product. https://lnkd.in/dXsGKgYw
