The United States Department of Defense has released its Private #5G Deployment Strategy, which encourages the use of #OpenRAN on military bases worldwide. EchoStar Corporation has supported efforts to expand the Open RAN ecosystem, and the support of partners like the DOD is critical to provide an alternative to untrusted vendors. We agree with the DOD that "Open RAN solutions offer transparent interfaces, component modularity, and a new radio layer application capability that enable greater vendor diversity, supply chain security, and operational innovation." https://lnkd.in/eTksPaFa

#Commitment to our #warfighters was recently highlighted through a Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) FutureG Office's contract extension for Hughes.   @Hughes' deployment of #Standalone #5G networks at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) in Hawaii and at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) in Washington State, has been proven as a strategic capability with both contracts extended through 2025 with additional 5G enhancements.
